Re: That time of year again; Goals for 2012

We went 5 for 6 on last year's goals, so that's pretty cool. Luce... I don't know if she's retired or not. I have her signed up for Rally 2 class starting in a few weeks. Maybe I'll put her RE title on her just to give her something to do. I don't think I'm ever going to proof her Go Out to the poin...

Re: Getting involved and suitability?

See what's out there, see what interests you, and then give it a try and see what your dog's response is. I got my Border Collie to be an agility dog. We suck at agility. I had no interest at all in flyball, but got talked into trying an intro class. He learned the game in three and a half months an...

Re: Feeding a lot and no weight gain.

When Luce was young, she ate 3-4 cups a day to maintain 45 lbs. She was a pretty active dog, though. My other dog has always eaten less than 2 cups/day to maintain 55 lbs. Every dog is an individual. Some are easy keepers, some aren't.

Re: Pitbulls and other pets!

Mine are ok with known indoor cats but will kill cats outside. I had to be extremely careful when I brought my kitten home because it took awhile for them to see him as family not food.

They would have killed my rats if they'd had access to them back when I kept rats.

Yup. I give them two thumbs up. I'm excited for the new signs :)

I also think it's hilarious that they used the word "pleading". I know exactly why, though!

Re: Sneaky's latest ordeal

Would fleece booties work? You can buy them from dogbooties.com for $2.50 apiece. I have their regular cordura booties and they stay on pretty well. They just have a strip of velcro around the top, nothing magical, but inexpensive and they make my life easier during mud season :)

Re: How Do You Display Ribbons and Trophies?

I just have Luce's ribbons hung on ropes that I nailed to the wall. Nothing fancy. All her Q ribbons are in a flat plastic storage box. I don't have enough rosettes to worry about storing them yet, though we're getting there now that Steve is playing flyball and bringing home ribbons from most tourn...

Re: The Kegger of Dog Sports (Flyball!)

Have you tried athletic tape in the spots he really burns through? Plus it's a super cute look!! Hank will burn through Co=Flex on newer mats and then we have to super wrap. Poor Steve. Poor you too. Do soft feet run in his line? All the borderstaffies i know from Connie have soft feet. I haven't t...

Re: The Kegger of Dog Sports (Flyball!)

I use PowerFlex or CoFlex for Hank. I had been using PowerFlex but bought a case of CoFlex through work because it was quicker and cheaper. He burns through his back wraps in less than five heats with the CoFlex! It's awful! There's nothing I've struggled with in flyball like I've struggled with St...

Re: Arthritis...

A joint supplement and fish oil daily with NSAIDs as needed is what I use with my arthritic girl. She rarely needs the Rimadyl but every once in awhile she overdoes it and I pop her a dose to keep her comfortable.

Re: The Kegger of Dog Sports (Flyball!)

I play with my Border Collie :D We're NAFA, Region 15 We run with Jet Set Steve ran in his first tournament in April 2010. He had only been training for four months at that point :wow Unfortunately, he got injured shortly after that and had to be pulled until November. He came back fine with no cont...

Re: Flyball progress

She looks good!

My initial response to racing on dirt was OMG EWWWW but I bet it'd be a lot easier on Steve's feet than the matting we always run on.
