Re: Behavorist in Harrisburg, PA

University of Pennsylvania is also not too far.

There is a behaviorist named Barbara Demarest who is around and seems to be ok but I got some anti-bully vibes from her the time I spoke with her. Not sure if this is a concern for your friend or not.

If you can afford it, feed canned. That alone can make a huge difference in weight control for many cats.

Re: Nature's Variety (or TOTW)

I'm a serial food-switcher as well. I often feed the pit bulls TOTW. They do well on it. It's a bit less calorically dense than many of the other foods that I feed, so Mushroom gets to eat more, which suits him. I look for the opposite for my Border Collie- it's a struggle to keep weight on him, so ...

Re: APDT Rally

Yes. I MUCH MUCH prefer APDT to AKC. More challenging in the upper levels, more interesting, more fun!

Luce and I have played a bunch of APDT rally :D

Heh. I never considered that particular jinx! But no. He's got two blue ribbons from APDT rally and several blue ribbons from flyball :p

Paige did good, took a 4th with a 188, earned a new title YAY NEW TITLE!! Congratulations!! Do you have any videos of you and Luce doing rally? Not rally, just one video of us doing CDSP Obedience. This was her second CD-H leg. She was NAUGHTY. (The judge thinks she's hilarious though.) http://www....

Re: 2 dogs, 2 days, 2 titles

how did you like when 'Glory" broke her stay and walked over to Luce  I was just so so relieved that all happened before we left our dogs. Though Luce wasn't terribly troubled by it. It could have been a completely different story if I'd have been thirty feet away and there was a strange ...

Re: 2 dogs, 2 days, 2 titles

(pout) why are you retiring her? In part because she's almost nine and has two bum knees. In part because I don't know what else to do with her. We've kind of been there, done that in rally. I don't know that she can physically do the height and width of jumping required in AKC Open. I've no intere...

2 dogs, 2 days, 2 titles

Yesterday Steve finished his AKC Rally Novice title with a 94 and second place in the morning trial and a 97 and third place in the afternoon trial. This makes him Orion Never Seen Blue RN RL1 FM. So proud of my crazy boy! Rally is so hard for him. He prefers sports with a lot of running and barking...

Re: Anyone with cold laser experience?

Not for arthritis but my Border Collie has had it for a couple injuries. He had weekly laser treatments for his iliopsoas pull, and then had a laser treatment on a pulled/sore triceps muscle last month. It's one of those things that it's hard to tell if it helped, because it was just one part of a t...

Re: Do you use treats to train your dog?

Yes. I use a lot of Pet Botanics food roll cut up into little pieces, as well as string cheese. At home I use cat kibble sometimes.

The Border Collie prefers to work for toys but that's often hard to use in a class setting without being too disruptive.

Re: Sensitive pads

I have the same issue with my Border Collie. It is SO frustrating. I bought Musher's Secret and have been trying to use it regularly. Tuf Foot has also been recommended to me, but I haven't tried it yet. I need to get some. New-Skin spray-on liquid bandage got us through our last flyball tournament ...
