Re: Leg injury - what do I look for?

I wouldn't freak out yet. Rest him for a few days, see what happens. No running, no jumping, no fun.

Fingers crossed that a few days of rest is all that he needs!

Re: CCL Post Surgery exercising

what type of surgery did he have? i'd really really encourage you to find a rehab vet in your area. they'll be able to show you exercises to do to encourage him to use and to build up strength in that leg at a safe pace. i didn't do rehab with luce after either of her knee surgeries because it wasn'...

Re: Joint Supplements

I usually use Dasuquin, which is a veterinary brand (also Welactin Omega 3 fatty acid supplement for help with arthritis relief as well), but a little while ago I impulse purchased some GNCPets Ultra Mega Hip & Joint tablets for Luce. I wasn't expecting to see any real difference one way or the ...

Re: Thought of this question and was curious....

I feed twice a day no matter what I'm feeding (raw or kibble). Luce gets empty belly pukes if she only eats once a day. They eat pretty regularly at 6:30 am but evening meal varies a lot depending on my work and training schedule.

Re: Ace alternatives?

It really does depend what you're using it for. For fear stuff... ugh... please no. Xanax is the ticket there ime. But I did end up using it for Steve (insane Border Collie) during his injury recovery just to take the edge off him. I tried a bunch of other things first but ended up turning to Ace in...

Re: Fed up with anal glands

There are a lot of nerves back there, and there's a definite risk of something getting tweaked during surgery resulting in a dog with poop incontinence for the rest of life. So you want to make sure that it's a risk you're willing to take AND that you have a surgeon who has done a lot of anal sacule...

Re: How much do you feed?

Luce (45 lb pit bull) eats just shy of 1c twice a day (TOTW)
Mushroom (55 lb pit bull) eats 3/4c twice a day (TOTW)
Steve (40 lb Border Collie) eats a heaping 1c twice a day (NV Instinct)

give or take.

Re: Has your dog ever donated blood?

Mushroom did once for a dog at work. He's only 55 pounds so he's kind of borderline too small, but he tolerated it fine. He was a super good boy.
