Re: Urinary Incontinence

luce is another leaky girl, and she has been since she was pretty young... three or four. she takes proin and does well with it for the most part (she has occasional break-through leakage). definitely have a urine sample checked first. leaking can be the result of a urinary tract infection, and that...

Re: how often do you bath your dogs?

once in a blue moon? the bullies get bathed... once? twice? a year. not very often. they don't really need it. the border collie gets bathed more regularly, especially during mud season (i had grass, you know, before i had him). he has this amazing ability to find mud when i didn't even know there w...

Re: importance of Warmup/Cooldown time?

steve is just getting back into flyball following an iliopsoas (groin) pull, so warming up and stretching is at the very forefront of my mind (not that i didn't greatly enjoy 5 months of drastically restricted young border collie). i take him out early and trot him in circles in both directions for...

Re: TPLO SUCCESS STORIES

i'm one of those people who doesn't believe that blowing the second knee has much to do with offloading. so few cruciate ruptures seem to be the result of a specific accident (and those that are tend to be the dogs who only ever blow one) but rather the result of normal dog activity. imo, whatever's...

Re: ivermectin

there is something funky going on with your chart as it jumps from 0.016 to 0.19 from 60 to 70 pounds. and it's not just collies who can be sensitive. not long ago i saw a german shepherd person talking about using ivermectin and i asked if she knew that german shepherds also may have the mdr1 mutat...

Re: New foster needs a dental

i'd encourage chewing, try the raw bones, give it some time, and see what happens. i thought for sure the old dog i adopted from the shelter was going to need his teeth cleaned, but recreational chewing really did a lot of good for him.

Re: Why do you feed the food you do?

There isn't a claim made for any specific brand of food that it cures spay incontinence, just a belief held by many that removing grain from a dog's diet can solve the problem: http://www.dogaware.com/articles/wdjincontinence.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If anything, I would ...

Re: Extracapsular repair prices

luce's first knee was repaired with an extracapsular repair at a big referral hospital by a highly recommended surgeon. it was spendy (i think about $2000 but of course they wanted to repeat both bloodwork and xrays - i had a hard time getting luce's first knee diagnosed as a cruciate). that knee is...

Re: Opinions on Iams Prescription Food

Give it a go and see what happens? If it works, then you've got a better idea that you're dealing with food allergies, and you can make decisions about diet based on what you learn from the food trial.
