how do you know it's not parasites? have you had a stool sample checked? it's a pretty straightforward thing to do. rule out the easy thing first, then look to dealing with the more complicated things.

i've never had a puppy, so i really can't say anything about my own dogs. they all came here as adults, and they are what they are (luce does not tolerate females at all, mushroom doesn't seem to have a gender-bias but he picks and chooses what dogs he likes, and harv has yet to display any kind of ...

we tried using black cohosh with mushroom, but it didn't work, so we ended up putting him on PPA. it might be worth a try anyway.

you can check and see if he really needs to wear his rabies tag. i know in PA a dog doesn't need to wear the tag, but you need to be able to produce a certificate of vaccination at any time.

you could also get tag silencers or tape them together so they don't jingle.

yup, there's a reason why a sample you bring in is different. it's travelled through the urethra, out of her body, and into a container, and could have picked up stuff along the way. a sample taken directly from the bladder is sterile. it won't have any bacteria in it that's not actually in the urin...

well, i'm hardly giving up on him. i'm just trying to find options that i can add to his life that will either improve or sustain what he's got. his symptoms right now are pretty mild, but i notice them. i don't know how much is "just him" (i've only had him two weeks), but in some ways he...

i'm not at all comfortable feeding b/d for any number of reasons ranging from the absurdly low protein content to the crappy ingredients list.

i'm confused by "higher levels than what is achieved with supplements".

help for old dog brains

harvey, my new dog, is 11 and he's got some mild signs of Old Dog Brain. i've started him on antioxidants as i've read that can help, and i'm working on teaching him basic commands and tricks in the hopes that it will help stimulate that little dog brain of his into working better. does anybody have...

that is so sad. that's no kind of life for a dog. i can't imagine how much it must suck to be scared of everything all the time, to have to always be on guard.

Brutus's Mommy wrote:There are no bad dogs, only bad owners.

Agree or disagree?

disagree. while i absolutely believe that a lot of dog problems are owner-exacerbated, there are dogs out there who are just wired wrong.

you cannot get lyme from your dog. you have to get it directly from the tick, which has to be attached to your skin for at least 48 hours in order to transmit the disease to you. is your pup symptomatic (fever, lethargy, joint pain/ limping)? a positive lyme test just means that your dog has been ex...

i am utterly unimpressed with hills. i was unimpressed that it took them nearly a week before we got any kind of contact from them at our clinic. no fax, no phone call. finally a letter showed up about their product which had been recalled. freaking vetcentric contacted us faster and they're just a ...

i think every situation has to be considered individually. i would deal with resource guarding. i would not deal with a dog who gave no warning and bit over control things. i would probably not deal with a dog who would bite *me* (as opposed to one who threatened only strangers). i don't have childr...
