i usually get knuckle bones for luce, "soup bones" from the local butcher. they come with some meat on them. she thinks they're fabulous. she eats off the meat, them scrapes out the marrow, and eventually if i don't replace it, she'll eat the whole bone. they smell TERRIBLE until she gets the meat c...

my dog was spayed by the shelter before i brought her home and she had no trouble at all, and i doubt they did bloodwork. i'd have preferred to have bloodwork done, but it wasn't up to me. (i had a jr wellness screening done at her first vet visit and everything came up fine, but what if it hadn't a...

i'll have to see if this dog like bananas. that sounds like a great stuffer. she's picky though. i gave her a baby carrot once and she spit it on the floor and looked at me like i was insane. it took her three months to decide she liked peanut butter  i use plain yogurt a lot and then freeze i...

i can't feed the chicken soup to my pit because it gives her soft poops, but my mini poodle does fine on it. my cats all eat their cat food and i am very happy with it for them. my pit eats canidae. she's got a great coat and skin, she looks good, she likes the food, and her poops are nice and solid...

it's about $350 for a spay where i work for a 20-40 lb dog. that includes hospital, anesthesia, surgery, and a fentanyl pain patch, but not pre-op bloodwork.

is there anything they can do for the tearing problem?

i have a rat who is on eye ointments for life because he has markedly reduced tearing in his left eye, and the dryness causes friction which causes ulcerations on his cornea. it's a real pain.

i switched my pit girl over to canidae about two weeks ago and wow the difference! i started her on chicken soup when i got her three months ago but she had very soft poops all the time even after the adjustment period, so i switched her to nutro natural, which gave her good poops and a terrible coa...

my dog was chipped at the shelter before she came home.

i'm planning to get her tattoed as well when i have to put her under anesthesia for something else (teeth cleaning probably).

i don't expect to "need" it, but you never know.

i wouldn't use that liquid skin stuff. you want it to heal from the inside out or else you'll have a good candidate for an abscess. i'd flush it with warm saltwater or dilute chlorhexidine solution (i use nolvasan skin and wound cleaner) and the neosporin. keep an eye on it for any signs of infectio...

nutro lamb and rice at the moment, which is not as good a food as i'd like, but we have the miracle of solid poopies. i had her on diamond's chicken soup for the dog lover's soul food, which she loved, and her coat was great (it's gotten flakey since we switched), but those runny poops were just no ...

luce will probably get both rabies and dhlpp again next year (she had her shots at the shelter this year and who knows if she ever had shots before that). after that, i'll probably go with 3 year rabies vaccs and i'm not sure about the dhlpp. doubtful every year. my vet doesn't vacc her own dog ever...
