Re: Bentleys vet visit

Is it like this?

"Backword Sneezing" is what I've heard it called. I've heard of people saying it's because of nerves, but never if there was any validity toward it...

Re: Nature's Variety (or TOTW)

I would agree on the website http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com!" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;! It's a fantastic resource. I would definitely say that the SD rep was just skewing "facts" to make the food look decent so the vet will hock it for them. Sad but true... and I'm in...

Re: Small cut on the front of paw

No to the aspirin, it will prevent the doctor from prescribing anything safer. Aspirin makes permanent changes that really don't interact well with the other NSAIDs. One dose isn't too bad if he's REALLY hurting, but not more than that, and only if he really needs it (like back pain etc.) Everythin...

Re: Small cut on the front of paw

He is now limping slightly on that paw... and it appears to be just ever so slightly swollen.

I'm going to see how he is in the morning and if it's still swollen or has gotten worse I'll take him to the vet. :(

I'm considering giving him 1 dose of aspirin in the mean time.... good idea or no?

Small cut on the front of paw

Bruce was scrounging around in some brush-y area today and when we got home I realized he had a small cut on top of his front right paw. It's about the size of the top of my pointer finger and isn't really bleeding or anything. Bruce was prescribed Chlorhex scrub solution awhile back for a small pun...

Re: Working on Recall - Suggestions

Wow! What a gorgeous place to be! Yes, building a recall is a way of life. You should be rewarding your dog every time she choses to come to you whether you asked her to or not. Over time returning to you will become almost a reflex but you have to work at it and be patient. Ideally your dog will b...

Re: Working on Recall - Suggestions

Thank you so much for the descriptive advice! My main reason for walking him all over the property is really just working on recall in different settings. Boundary work is something I definitely need to work on, but will not be my main focus over the course of the next week and a half, that'll be my...

Working on Recall - Suggestions

Sorry if this is sort of a repost. I tried searching for something similar but didn't really get anything. I'm going to be out in the middle of nowhere next week (my grandma has property outside of Guthrie, Ok and grows bamboo) and was wanting to work on Bruce's recall. What are y'alls suggestions o...

Re: Treat em' right rescue in houston

Just amending my previous post... Dr. Cooper didn't "build on" to any facility they just bought a bigger place and are doing some renovations to it at the moment so they can do in house boarding instead of boarding dogs at other facilities.

Re: Treat em' right rescue in houston

I'm sorry, I haven't heard ANY bad things about this rescue. I've been helping walk dogs at their new facility and not once have I gotten a sense that they would do this type of thing. What shelter were they boarding dogs? And when was this? I was told they try not to board dogs anymore because they...
