Re: rescued great dog, she just need a little guidance

:goodpost: This...one of the best things I've learned from this forum is that you can't just tell them no. You have to give them something positive to do instead, like holding a "focus" or "sit/stay" or "down/stay" while you pat another dog on the head once or twice, th...

Re: Mange or just thin hair?

It's always good to have the vet check it out, but my Chloé is like that. Around her eyes and behind her ears are pretty bald, but her skin is dark so you can't really tell. Her tummy has only tiny peach fuzz. I thought Thor was a baldy, but she has way less hair then him, not just in the places I m...

Re: Flexi Leads...whats soo bad about em?

I read this in an article in our local newspaper last week: "One of the new city ordinances that took effect July 1 is the requirement for a leash that will go out no longer than six feet. The officers have spent time at London Bridge Beach educating people about the new leash requirement. &quo...

Re: Shade Whitesel seminar

First training seminar where I will be participating, kindaaaa nervous about making an ass out of myself. The only way you can make an ass out of yourself is not trying! These kinds of seminars and having more than 5-10 REAL DOG people who are devoted to training around are the only reasons I hate ...

Re: I have some questions

:goodpost: I agree, and since he is young, you need to get it under check ASAP or it will keep getting worse as he gets older. Not only are you doing yourself a favor, it's best for him to get the training/help he needs.

Re: What is Obi doing? (besides being a gross male...)

Thor does this when he's done shoving his face in Chloé's girly parts. He did it with my Sadie (RIP) too. My parents' friend's Aussie does it too. I think it's the universal doggie "I love your girly parts" sign. roflmao

Re: Frank has started showing new behaviour (aggression?)

The first thing you need to do is get a trainer/behaviorist - someone who can see what is going on and give you tools to redirect his attention. You can PM "Red", she has recommended GREAT positive trainers for friends in other cities before. 6 months is right where they can start getting ...

Re: Training help

I think part of the issue is that she really doesn't want to help with his training. You'd be surprised how much they pick up on your "vibes"...if she didn't want to take him out and was mad about it, that is probably why he peed - he was scared and there is no point trying to teach him a...

Re: Chloé earned her RN!

So...here is the video. It's funny how you think you did good on something and then you watch it back and not so much! She veered away from me again around the third or fourth station which I didn't remember (right before the halt 90 degree pivot left halt), but at least 5 dogs had peed right where ...

Chloé earned her RN!

We went to Flagstaff this weekend and Chloé earned her Rally Novice title on Saturday with a second place and got her first leg toward Rally Advanced with a first place on Sunday!! Here is a pic of all her ribbons from this weekend. The big one is for finishing her RN title. :) Video from the first ...
