Re: ***QUALIFIED to give behavior advice for AGGRESSION.

i read this, but not each and every word- i'm pretty sure what most people are saying is the phrase dog trainers use: the only thing two dog trainers can agree on is that the third dog trainer is wrong. lol i'll use myself as an example, i think i'm a good example, actually, of the grey area here, a...

Re: Josh is getting dog aggressive

i'm with amie on this- there are so many reasons not to free feed: are all the dogs eating the same food? how do you control portions (you generally)? how do you control resources? how can you make a dog work to eat? how can you tell who is eating, and when? how can you put dogs on a schedule, and t...

Re: BEST TRAINING TREAT

Whatever your dog likes best. what she said! and i think it's really important to have different levels of treats for differnet levels of distraction. your dog may totally work for cheerios and really boring milkbones or carrots. they probably will need the next level up like something meaty or che...

Re: Dog aggression and DNA

Yes, there are dogs that LOVE to challenge. No, there are no dogs that LOVE the thrill of the fight. Fight brings injuries, injuries bring disability, disability brings death. An animal cant afford to be injured out of a "thrill from fighting". I disagree in part w/this. Ron Marshall, a l...

Re: How to take him down a notch?

i have a friend who has your dog. his name is wally and i love him but... i couldn't live with him roflmao i applaud you and your patience! i think i would start with some basic impulse control and arousal work. some of this is stuff you're doing, like working with less exciting treats. EVERYTHING n...

Re: I feel like I have failed Mya so much....

You didn't fail her, genetics did. You stood by her, and loved her, and cared for her. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I've always admired your thoughtfulness, concern, and the love you so clearly have with Mya. You're in my thoughts, as is your mom, and Mya. Rest in peace beautiful girl. i ...

Re: Handstand

gk: your digital camera might have the video feature, most do... that's all I have (no separate video camera) and it works great for small clips. It's even better when it's like Val has it, stationary rather than having someone hold it. Too much camera movement for the low-end type built in digital...

I guess different states have different procedures. My male is very dog aggressive. I was a newbie to the breed when I first acquired him. My boyfriend at the time didn't ensure the screen door was latched, and Kane got out to go after another dog being walked down the street. AC was called (althou...
