Re: Bad tooth, what do you think?

I'm sure it's nothing, especially seeing as resorptive lesions are really uncommon in dogs! I just always think it's worth doing dental rads while they're under anyways. Hope he's feeling okay! I hope so! They did ask if I wanted anything else x-rayed or anything done while he was out and cooperati...

Re: Bad tooth, what do you think?

Kat, did they do full-mouth dental rads? Just curious because Buddy had a tooth that died and fell out and when she went under to have the roots removed, they did dental rads and found she had resorptive lesions in 15 teeth so they had to be extracted. A year before when she was under to have her f...

Re: Bad tooth, what do you think?

And he is in surgery right now to have the root removed, the vet said it should be quick and easy!

Re: Bad tooth, what do you think?

Well, the tooth came out on its own today. It was deader than a door nail. I just finished up visiting the emergency vet, they said he is doing well but may still have part of a root in there so needs an x-ray and possibly surgery. I got some antibiotics from them. I called his regular vet and left ...

Re: Bad tooth, what do you think?

That's awesome and so reassuring! It's so nice to find a good practitioner you feel comfortable with, whether for you or for your dog. The price is great, too. The quotes from vets I trusted here for cleaning and extraction were almost double through triple that range. Sent from my MB860 using Tapa...

Re: Bad tooth, what do you think?

The appropriate recommendation would have been - we should perform a full dental exam under anesthesia and perform dental radiographs to determine if there is a problem with the tooth or not. If your new vet doesn't routinely perform full dental radiographs on every pet during their dental cleaning...

Re: Bad tooth, what do you think?

I have an appointment at 3:10 today with another vet, he is about an hour away but came highly recommended, especially for dental problems. Hopefully this will help clear things up and if I like him, I may end up switching over.

Re: Bad tooth, what do you think?

Thank you everyone, we are for sure going in for a second opinion. I got good references from some dog friends and will be calling that vet in the morning.

I am glad to hear I am not alone in thinking the 'just leave it' idea seemed like a bad one.

Bad tooth, what do you think?

Because Apollo's bites were off at SchH practice (they are always a little wonky) my trainer asked if I had had his teeth looked over carefully. After poking around I found that Apollo has 'bad' tooth. His far back molar (the tiny one that is almost impossible to see) is heavily coated in plaque and...

Re: Pet Insurance

Mine costs a grand total of $252 a year and has pretty extensive coverage and a low yearly detectable, no where near a few thousand dollars.
