Re: Button learning to identify things in his environment

I like how it seemed he was thinking 'The rock?! But it's right in front of you! See? Right here!' *stomp*

New words for old tricks?

My dog knows basic commands but I'd really like to do some formal, flashy obedience with her as well as tracking. She's picking up on tracking very well and she really enjoys the game. However, when I ask her to do something like sit or lay down her whole demeanor changes and she sloooooowly lowers ...

How do you feel about the Kong Harness?

It's got a padded handle for the human and looks to be decent quality. I picked it up for my dog so we could start doing tracking since using a collar keeps confusing her and she picks up her head when she's supposed to be ground scenting. Any other recommendations for harness or tracking gear? We'r...

Re: Cani-Cross

It's pretty easy to teach a dog left right and halt with leash pressure, and you'd be surprised but they'll pick it up on their BODY easier than they will on their head or neck. I accidentally taught my dog to move left or right by letting the leash touch whatever side I wanted him to move away from...

Re: Custom Kennel companies?

They offer custom sizes and set ups, and I seem to recall seeing something like 3x3x4 on their website, but it was a while back and they are my parents go-to for outdoor kennels. SUPER quality and always great customer service.

Re: Best water toy?

x2 on jolly balls. You can get the kind that's rubbery and bite-able instead of the super hard plastic kind, punch a hole in it so the dog can bite down instead of having to always target the handle, and have tons of fun. The weight of the toy makes throwing it further much easier.

Re: Crates/cages - What size should they be?

I'm on board with bigger is better so much that once I was comfortable that my dog wasn't going to mess in her crate I put her in an x-pen in the corner. It's bigger than any crates I could find and she's not limited by a ceiling. That might be an option you want to look at. I got a scrap of linoleu...

Re: 4 Health Dog Food

I've used it before and it gave my dog the runs. I don't know why, but we did the gradual transition and tried it for two months and he never formed a normal stool. We switched to something different and he went right back to being normal. It's rare that something will upset his stomach, and even ra...

Re: White dog with red skin

My computer refuses to recognize my camera for some reason. I can't upload any pictures, but her skin is looking better after our visit. The vet decided that she has a slight staph infection and that's what causing the inflamed areas to break out and get crusty. Her chest DID become a bit bumpy and ...

Re: White dog with red skin

The shelter has their own vet, but obviously they're only interested in keeping them healthy for adoption. She's seeing the vet at 3:15 today. I am currently her very small 1/3 cup 2x day of Simply Nourish salmon and sweet potato to get her switched over gradually. I've had her since Saturday, so it...

White dog with red skin

6 year old all white American Bulldog. When she was in the shelter the vet said she needed hypoallergenic food and they were feeding science diet. She has the bumps all over like dried up crusty zits that are shrinking. If you mess with them you can get the crusty part off very easily and it doesn't...

Re: yawning around baby - should i be worried? (w/video link

I noticed in the first video that Mom's voice was a bit on edge since she couldn't see what he was doing in her daughters face. I don't know if that's a normal behavior for her, but exercise for all three of you before interactions with baby can only help. Not only will he have a tendency to be more...
