Re: Trifexis -- how's it working out for you?

It does take a bit for the drug to clear the system. No episodes today. I'm bummed, because I love the convenience of it. Non of my other dogs have experienced any symptoms (and, indeed, it may be totally unrelated) I'm going to see if he responds to being off it. My vet said an MRI isn't indicated ...

Re: Trifexis -- how's it working out for you?

This is our 3rd or 4th month, but Martin has had two 'episodes' I wouldn't call them seizures exactly. He just freezes in place in the middle of whatever he is doing (walking around) and gets all stiff. It's super weird., he's like a statue and he is up on his toe nails, if one of his legs happens t...

Re: Is this a good quality Dog food.

Diamond (who manufactures Kirkland) is having some issues right now, yes. The bag is just about more nutritious than dog chow though, just about anything is a step up

OUCH! Poor Vanya. Sorry, I don't have any experience with Porcupine Quills, but I do wish him a speedy recovery.

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

She's not talking about dogs going home, medicated. She's talking about how they come OUT of anesthesia, before those other meds come into play. I wouldn't be so quick to discount people who watch dogs wake up, they are there, they see it. You are free to make your own choices on 'if it hurts' or'is...

Re: Recall, Kirkland and Taste of the Wild

That's why I don't feed TOTW (tried it once, not that impressed with how the dogs did on it either) Diamond has a recall every year about one thing or another. Maybe you could say it's because there QC is good and they catch stuff, but I tend to think they should catch that stuff BEFORE it hits the ...

Re: Heartworm Treatment Success Story

How effective is the Levamisole against the adult worms? I know it kills off the microfilaria in the bloodstream, which would arrest the progression of the disease. The antibiotics kill of bacteria needed by the adults to reproduce, as well. Does the Levamisole slowly kill off the adults or is it si...

Interesting! I haven't heard of this alternative treatment! Glad you had success with it. My foster is two weeks out of being done using the Immiticide. so I feel your pain on the scary part of treatment.

Re: Gaining Weight

Agreed. Not that tough to feed twice a day, even if you get up late, the feedings don't need to be 12 hours apart. Smaller meals allow for more efficient digestion/use of calories. The body tends to store what it doesn't use and this follows the same concept as you not eating a huge meal before you ...

Re: Gaining Weight

The flirt pole is really more about chasing the toy on the end of it. Sometimes dogs who will not tug still like to chase :) As dogs age, their metabolism slows down (just like with people) Dogs tend to put on weight pretty evenly, so it is often mistaken for 'muscle' when it is just a pretty even d...
