Re: Raising more than one Pit Bull together??

I'm a little confused (but we're also out of coffee at home) are you thinking about keeping all 3? Because raising 3 puppies and making sure they aren't co-dependent on each other or don't get the socialization and training they need is really, really, really hard. This is really the crux of the ma...

Re: On one type of aggression and consultants

Sorry, I missed your credentials? I'm not really quite clear either on what you are arguing? Most behaviorists I have spoken with or worked with try to keep the dog below threshold. If you have a complete questionnaire and you are adept enough at reading dogs, you can see the stimulus. There are sit...

Re: Our enormous Amstaff is returning!

but it's an eternal battle on the street if she is on a leash. My husband walks her without a leash - it's not prohibited here! - and it works ok - thanks to her obedience. But he has better control of her than I do, so I take no risks - she has dog-aggressiveness issues Sorry, I didn't make it muc...

Re: Nero had a seizure

So scary!!! That is a dramatic seizure too. How is he doing? How old is Nero again? Are you using Trifexis? I hope the Phenobarb continues to help him, poor baby.

Re: Vi broke a tooth :(

Poor Vi! Cheer up though! I have three dogs here and, together, they have a TOTAL of 2 upper canines between them, lol. Martin has one, Nikki has one, Mysti has none. Uppers are MUCH more noticeable, but you can't even tell.

Re: Barking and snarling...what do you think?

That's my problem with Mysti, she only does the loud or snarly when she is frustrated with not getting to the dog. She has intent, unfortunately, and will lure them in by being quiet

Re: Trifexis -- how's it working out for you?

BT trances appear to be like slow motion, trance like. This is not that for sure. He is peppy and running or trotting around, then frozen in place like a statue for like 30 seconds, then totally normal.

Re: Trifexis -- how's it working out for you?

It does take a bit for the drug to clear the system. No episodes today. I'm bummed, because I love the convenience of it. Non of my other dogs have experienced any symptoms (and, indeed, it may be totally unrelated) I'm going to see if he responds to being off it. My vet said an MRI isn't indicated ...

Re: Trifexis -- how's it working out for you?

This is our 3rd or 4th month, but Martin has had two 'episodes' I wouldn't call them seizures exactly. He just freezes in place in the middle of whatever he is doing (walking around) and gets all stiff. It's super weird., he's like a statue and he is up on his toe nails, if one of his legs happens t...

Diamond (who manufactures Kirkland) is having some issues right now, yes. The bag is just about more nutritious than dog chow though, just about anything is a step up

Re: Weary of other people while on the leash?

He's giving you pretty clear signals that he is uncomfortable with the approach of people while on leash (avoidance) The leash restricts his ability to flee a situation he is uncomfortable with. I would stop making him interact when he is showing signs of not wanting to. You can treat at the approac...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

She's not talking about dogs going home, medicated. She's talking about how they come OUT of anesthesia, before those other meds come into play. I wouldn't be so quick to discount people who watch dogs wake up, they are there, they see it. You are free to make your own choices on 'if it hurts' or'is...

Re: Collars in Rally Advanced...

Some judges would NQ you for that. The original intent of the regulation was to prevent any appearance of unfairness or favoritism during judging, so they don't want anything that would potentially be seen as 'identifying' your dog. Your safest bet is a plain collar (the embroidered with name or num...
