Re: Building Muscle

Well, exercise is great! None of mine are big fans of leash walking though. um, up hills, down hills, walking on different surfaces like sand. You can do recall sprints between 2 people on a long line. swimming if you can find it. You can also practice teaching tricks like sit pretty and bow. That ...

Re: Building Muscle

How old is she? What are you feeding currently? Some dogs also just have great muscle tone. My older girl literally does nothing. I have to sucker her into exercising to keep her stamina up and she always looks like we've really been putting in an effort with her. Our lurcher has great muscle tone ...

Building Muscle

IDK if I am just really bad at using the search key but I haven't been able to find just what I am looking for. So I will ask... Mimi is 22" tall I believe, & between 60-65lbs. She seems to gain weight pretty easily, just by looking at her we can tell. But I was wondering the best way to ge...

Re: Negative Effects from Benadryl?

Benadryl can make dogs, as well as people, sleepy, and in people that certainly translates to groggy. I don't take it myself, because I dont like the feeling, though it does make a good sleeping pill. I dont take it either, luckily I get prescribed Allegra still even though it just went on shelves....

Re: Negative Effects from Benadryl?

I really cant say if she was drowsy or not, odd right?, because she is very calm, quiet & sleeps a lot anyway. I could just see in her face that she was confused about what was going on, & she never whines in her kennel so that was really weird for her to do. So it wasn't her being more leth...

Negative Effects from Benadryl?

So I gave Mimi 50mgs last night for the first time. Most of the night consisted of her staring at my husband & I, staring out the window & just seeming over all "glum" to the point where I went out of my way to try & stimulate her through tricks & games. Immediately after s...

Re: Food/Supplements/Bathing - dog w/ allergies?

She may need some antibiotics and to stay on medicated shampoo to get her over the skin bumps if there's an infection happening, which really isn't uncommon. I was going to keep her on the shampoo until it runs out but just wanted to look into other things that might do just as well, or if the sham...

Re: Food/Supplements/Bathing - dog w/ allergies?

OK your main photo is adorable, I love it! What's the yeast build up in his ear like? She had an infection that I thought didnt go away but the vet said it may or may not be an infection, just to clean her ears with her bath (2x a week) and I just notice that one ear seems fine but the other clearl...

Re: Food/Supplements/Bathing - dog w/ allergies?

Natural Balance is a pretty good food, and if she's doing well on that, I'd be reluctant to change it. I feed TOTW, and it's a good food, but most of their formulas do have a lot of stuff in them, including chicken, which you aren't wanting to give her. The only TOTW formula I'd try on an allergy d...

Re: Food/Supplements/Bathing - dog w/ allergies?

Yeah it is my opinion as well that it is better to figure it out than mask symptoms. Although some times you can only get so good and then you have to mask. At 2 months you probably aren't seeing the full benefit of the new food as I think it can take up to 4 months(someone correct me if I am wrong...

Re: Food/Supplements/Bathing - dog w/ allergies?

How long have you had her and how long has she been on the food you are feeding now? 2 months and almost 2 months, lol. (I have had her on it since a week after I got her.) Is there something that makes you think it is food allergies over environmental or both. Food allergies are actually less comm...

Food/Supplements/Bathing - dog w/ allergies?

I would almost consider Mimi a special needs dog. She is in the vet for this & that, our first month with her she was at the vet 4 times! So this might be a rather winded thread but as people who are very in-tuned to what their dogs need, and people who go above and beyond the care a dog require...

Re: Pet Insurance?

I don't have insurance (and we have a dog with allergies too), but I have looked into it so wanted to offer you the idea of getting online quotes. There are a ton of places for insurance, but I think VPI, Trupanion and ASPCA are a couple more popular ones. Places like http://petinsurancereview.com/ ...

Re: Just saying Hello

Reading over the Sample Here post I decided to extend my Intro post :nana: 1. My basic stats, including location without getting too specific. I live in the Northwest, can't stand the rain or wind....which is kind of the story of my life around here. 2. My history with the breed and how I got into i...

Re: Just saying Hello

Her name is Mimi! I have too many pics of her actually. I haven't added yet one because it tells me I have to crop the pixels so I have to get into Picasa to do it correctly, which I didnt have time to do earlier. (Also wanted to check out the site before just posting my personal pics.)
