Re: Healthy weight

Does this sound right?? She's defiantly gained some, the ribs are much less pronounced. But do yours really not have ribs showing? Mine have ribs showing. I think most trim, healthy dogs (esp dogs with really short coats like ours) without excess pounds show ribs to some degree. Both your dogs are ...

Re: Male or Female

If your current dog is female then I would look into getting a male. I have only had one male dog in my life and it was much more hyper and active than the females I have had. They are all pretty hyper as puppies, but the females tended to mellow out at around 2 years of age. I have also noticed tha...

Re: Male or Female

It is not just about how it is raised. There is a genetic component as well. What sex is your schnauzer?

Re: When to say When

Can't you keep him and the cats separated? Most cats I have known are pretty good at doing it on their own. Even a good "hunting dog" should not be able to catch a young healthy cat.

I guess this is too late, but in the future I wouldn't let the police in the house or yard to examine your dog unless they have a warrant.

Re: New Dog owner! Rescue!

That should be work to eat "toys" not "dogs." I am also not sure why they are so anal about letting you edit your posts. They should at least five you a ninja edit window of a minute or so.

Re: New Dog owner! Rescue!

I would definitely get him some work to eat dogs or Kongs. They can help keep him occupied when you just need a few minutes to get something done. Also, hang in there and someone will activate you. I am not sure why this place is so anal about intros, but once you get past that there is a lot of goo...

Re: New Dog owner! Rescue!

Welcome. Your pup has the same white toe nails as mine. He is very handsome. I think you might want to tell the admins a little bit more about yourself. They are pretty anal about these intros.

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

I had someone ask if I was going to crop Sadie's ears when she was a pup. I couldn't even imagine not having those soft velvety ears to nom on while we're snuggling on the couch. I think those floppy ears are one of the best physical features of bully breeds. I agree 100%. They are my favorite aest...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

I agree with Oje about ear cropping. I think pit bulls with their ears cropped do not make the best ambassadors for the breed. It makes them appear more aggressive and it is often associated with dog fighting or guarding which is not the impression that most people want for this breed. On personal n...

Re: Honey Bun and Puppies - CA

That is awesome what you and your husband did. That story reminds me of how my mom found our dog Sadie. She was running around the ship yard and my mom got worried she was going to get ran over, so she brought her home. My mom told me she was bringing home a stray that had been running around the sh...

Re: Does this warrant a new vet?

If you are not comfortable with what your current vet is saying then you should get a second opinion.
