Re: Sadie isn't well

A little video of Sadie's first few minutes home after bringing her home from the hospital. I love her wicked tail at the end.

Re: Sadie isn't well

Everything about Sadie's presentation was odd. She was so sick, but hid it well. The techs called her the happiest sick dog they ever met. It really scares me to think if I had waited till the more typical symptoms presented, it may have been too late. One of the vets said many stoic dogs (ie bull a...

Re: Sadie isn't well

We're doing good. She is sleeping a ton, and we're figuring out ways around the jumping and stairs issue. Sleeping on the couch was hell for me, but it was very comforting to wake up and feel her next to me. Here is a pic of her incision site, 48 hours post op. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/h...

Re: Roc in hospital

I firmly believe that when it is medically possible for them to be home, they should be there. Hospitals are very busy places and they get very little rest. Sadie just came home from the hospital and the vets tell me she slept very little there because of all the activity. SHe has done nothing but s...

Re: Ideas for abdominal surgery issue?

She is on tramadol for pain. She has been on it before so I have a good feel for how she reacts to it. Sadie isn't a dog who says "this hurts" often (that is why the vets thought she was fine when in fact her stomach and diaphragm had been perforated) so when she says "this hurts"...

Ideas for abdominal surgery issue?

Sadie had pretty major abdominal surgery yesterday - thread about that here: http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=153094 Sadie has to be carried up/down stairs, lifted on/off the sofa, etc. She tenses her abdomen while picked up and held. She makes "this hurts" noises while ...

Re: Sadie isn't well

:yipee: Sadie is home! :yipee: She's under the usual no jumping orders, so needs to be lifted on/off furniture and carried up/down stairs. The furnture is tough. She'll jump on/off before you can blink. She surprised me by jumping in the car and disobeyed my order to stay while i opened the hatch of...

Re: Sadie isn't well

Sadie is doing fine. They gave her some breakfast and now they're watching to make sure she keeps it down. He told me to call back at 2-3pm for another update. I asked if there was a chance she'd be able to come home today and he said there was a chance, but wouldn't give me odds. He said her surger...

Re: Sadie isn't well

Visited Sadie before calling it a night. She looks miserable. She stood the whole time. Tried laying, tried sitting, but she's cut down her whole abdomen so I imagine standing gives the least amount of pressure on the stitches. Poor baby. Broke my heart. Standing, stiff, head down, tail tucked :( ht...

Re: Sadie isn't well

the thing that really scares the crap out of me is how sick she was while not showing it. If I had waited until she was REALLY sick like your normal dog, it may have been too late. Ugh I can't even go there mentally.

Re: Sadie isn't well

This was Sadie at 4am as we waited for the results of her repeat xray. She was attentive and thwacked her tail on the bench whenever someone would walk by. Who would have thought she was so sick inside. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/s720x720/563935_10150641544583195_696558194_...

Re: Sadie isn't well

Her breathing wasn't labored. Lung sounds were good. Even her blood work came back normal. The only one who thought anything at all was wrong with my dog was me because my normally insane dog was acting like an average dog. She was eating, drinking, peeing and pooping. Vet: *She doesn't fit the symp...

Re: Sadie isn't well

Nicole was it a raw fed bone? (I am asking for my own curiosity re raw bones) It was, but we had stopped giving them to her because she isn't safe with them. My husband gave her a small one (the last one in our freezer) on Sunday so it's either that one or maybe a random one she found burried in he...
