Louisiana Sportsmen's Festival-Splash Dogs event!

Any of our PBF planning to go to this event?

Anyone have recommendations of cheap hotels that allow bullies? I'm calling around trying to book a room and coming up short.

Re: Altering the sex and effects on fearful behaviors

I don't know about 'research' but I have heard that if you have an unspayed female who is showing aggressive behavior spaying can make it worse. But it's only hearsay. When we "adopted" Tinkerbell from her situation she was approx 1.5 years old. When we finally got her to trust us enough ...

Re: CGC Evaluation Prep

We will be working on all of the tests up until time. He doesnt scream, but lets out short little barks because he is uber excited. If I knew how to take a video where you can actually see him I would.... He is the best dog I have ever owned. This is my first hand at anything past sit/stay for obedi...

CGC Evaluation Prep

There is one coming up in January. We would like to take it, even if we do not pass. But I am having trouble with keeping Boss's attention. I really need him to stop and focus on me. He used to love these treats but now he is not so driven by them, and you can't use treats in the CGC test. I also ca...

Weight pulling

I am wondering if Boss is too young for some very light weight pulling. 5-8 lbs on walks and such. It is getting cold out and he really doesn't like the cold (bad breeding I guess but he acts stiff and sluggish with the cold). So he is getting a bit pudgy... Our house is small so outside time must b...

Re: "Is my dog dog-aggressive?"

I plan to get a break stick. Thanks, Red... I probably didn't need the stick I just freaked and grabbed it. Both of the dogs are fine. I dont know if this is dog aggression or resource guarding. The fuss started over a toy. So I guess best now not for them to share toys.

Re: "Is my dog dog-aggressive?"

Well... We had an incident today. I do not have a fenced in yard so I took Boss and my male BT Alan to the park. No one else was there so I let the boys offleash to romp. They found a toy kong that had been left there, and the next think I know Boss had Alan by the neck and on the ground, I grabbed ...

Re: ack! tick!

We don't freak out over ticks, or have the tick or dog tested for any disease. Even with repellent on the dogs, in the area we live in ticks are a common thing... We do vaccinate for lyme disease though.

Re: Pitbulls and other pets!

Boss lives with 3 other small dogs, 2 parrots, 1 cat, and 2 rats to be here soon. He does fine with them, but he is very submissive and doesnt try to fuss with them ever.

Re: Rehabilitating Fred

Thank you all so so much. I plan to keep you all updated. I was so happy to see a normal poo in him, it still stinks worse than it should but it was solid! I plan to take some one on one time with him this afternoon to show him a toy, sit in the floor with him and show him a squeeky toy with lots of...

Re: Rehabilitating Fred

Thanks all! I just dont understand how he cries and cries when he cant see me, but when I come back into view if I do more than just sit with him he gets scared. He took a nap with me and licked my face though, he seems to like me better this morning. Had some trouble getting him to eat last night s...
