Re: nail clipping...

any help or suggestions would be great...I try to "sweet talk" him and tell him its okay (because it is okay) but he is still afraid.... By telling him what he is doing is okay, you're reinforcing him acting like a brat. I'm not nice about nails...there is no opportunity for my dogs to ru...

While I wouldn't feed kibble with wheat in it, I feed it in biscuits. They eat such small amounts that it's not really an issue for me. There's nothing wrong with chicken meal. The only things I avoid in treats are artificial preservatives and random animal meals or fats. Occasional biscuits are fi...

How long has he been sick? My dogs all got a bout of the doggie flu a few months ago, and were pooping everywhere. They got the Eukanuba low res to control the diarrhea for a few days. But I wouldn't feed it long term, it's mostly corn grits and the fish is preserved with ethoxyquin.(says so right o...

I just wanted to say, please instruct your mom on how to properly break up a dog fight if she doesn't already know. Just in case, because anyone with two or more large dogs should know.

Good luck!

If she's not crated she may not poop. Some dogs go in the crate from stress. I would try it and see how it goes. Feeding at a different time probably won't help, because in my experience if they are scared, they will poop no matter what. My shar pei poops if left UNcrated, because he gets really ner...

I don't like meat meal because it comes from wherever. o.o

But really, I wouldn't look at the analysis...I really never do, just on foods but not treats.

I mean, it won't kill him or anything.

Worry more about the ingredients than the analysis.

I love fish oil because it helps their skin and coats so much. It also helps my allergy prone shar pei. I add vitamin E to ensure the salmon oil is utilized. I buy yogurt sometimes, because I like the fact that it's good for digestion. They also love it, so that's my main reason is mixing up their d...

Actually, isn't it the avidin in EGG WHITE that stops a dog from absorbing biotin? I'm quite sure there's nothing in the shell to cause that.

I would personally try leaving her in one room alone and see how she does. If she's that upset in the crate, maybe it's not for her.

She also needs to be worn out before left alone in any case.

Wire, but I don't like the walmart crates. They work fine for some dogs, but they have a very thin plastic pan that will crack after a couple months of normal use. I've had two and the pan cracked in both, just from being walked on and laid on. The structure of the cage is also really weak. The side...

I would just ignore him. It's how puppies play with each other, so he probably is just playing with you. If you talk to him he may think you're barking back. Try turning your back and leaving the room, or just don't make eye contact.

I give my dogs ivermectin as heartworm preventative, and I squirt it on a piece of bread, then feed it.

I think you can also inject it, if that might be easier.

I should add, a lot of people use amitraz dips on their dogs for mange. But it's not personally something I would trust, as I think there are a lot more methods that could be tried first.

There are different topicals, ivermectin, immune system support...I would try all those before the dips.
