Raw bones and interacting w/ children

Hey there, I'm curious as to how long I should keep the dogs away from my children after they have chewed on a raw chicken or beef bone. I grew up getting kisses from dogs and my children are the same way. Recently I have been enlightened to the fun new ways to make my dogs happy and healthy and my ...

Re: Mast Cell Tumors : Lessons Learned

I hate cancer. It scares me so much it makes me consider not having future pets. See this is the mindset that I try to get people not to have. First, I send the best wishes to everyone and thier pets, and all life is a miracle as we all know by the love we feel with our pets. The fact is that great...

Re: Mast Cell Tumors : Lessons Learned

not really sure what that last poster was saying. but I found it very disrespectful to our concerned pet-parents on the forum who are looking for constructive answers to health issues. I apologize if that offended anyone, don't see how it could have but I did not have any bad intentions and was jus...

Re: Mast Cell Tumors : Lessons Learned

I know how hard it is to have sick dogs, or dying or dead dogs, but all I can say is don't worry too much and get yourself down over anything that happens. Doggies can sense your worry and you don't want them to see thier leader upset! Just cherish every moment, and know that no matter what happens ...

Re: New here, just found a new dog!

Great advice on the vet, I guess I have been caught up in the moment and I really should have called right away to schedule an appointment. I'll take care of that tomorow. Lou from pawzitive Petz looks promising as a guy to help me out here, hopefully I can help him out at the same time. He let me k...

Re: New here, just found a new dog!

It sounds like he will be fine for now. You sound level-headed and want what is best. Here is Pit Bull Rescue Central's website listing of rescues by state: http://pbrc.net/webapp/cgi-bin/orgs_by_state.cgi/88e8a61a89e773f67908499d2853a60c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If you want t...

Re: New here, just found a new dog!

Thanks for the good advice so far. Rocko is safe in the garage and ambient temps around here are around 70F lately but I have a box fan on in there just in case. I have been doing a lot of research today (as much as I can get by with at work) and have found a couple local pit bull rescue/adoption pl...

New here, just found a new dog!

Hey guys, looks like a great forum here. I am a big time animal lover, especially dogs/wolves and a few days ago had this big guy wander into my garage. I've had him for a few days now and he's great, but I'm very cautious as I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter and an 8 year old daughter. I also have a...
