my friend used to work for this company in the bay area, and he feeds it to his husky mix and she loves it. she has food allergies so not much she can have, but this is great for her and she does very well on it.

Re: Walking with weights question and a question about jumpi

It is definitely a cute trick! I use it as a reward behavior because Vi likes to do it so much. She isn't big on toys and she loves to jump on me so it works well when I need to reward in the ring since you can't use treats. I will also use it to get her hyped up before going in the agility or obed...

Re: Walking with weights question and a question about jumpi

The style of jumping you'll want for agility is very different than the leap straight up in the air jumping. yea, but i figure it might help....if not it will still be fun anyway :P Every dog is going to look different. I have 2 female apbt's that both weigh 55#. Lu is 21" tall and lightly bon...

Re: Walking with weights question and a question about jumpi

In the beginning, I don't use a verbal cue at all. Just reward the behavior. After she knows that when I put my hand out, she is to touch it with her nose, then I teach her that she'll only get a reward when I say the verbal cue (ie - you only get paid when I ask for the behavior). I'd do this befo...

Re: Walking with weights question and a question about jumpi

If you want to do all shaping with the clicker, start by clicking anytime she looks at your hand, then anytime she leans towards your hand, then when she touches your hand, then move your hand around and click when she follows. Be sure to hold your hand in the same position each time so her cue is ...

Re: Walking with weights question and a question about jumpi

If she's 50 lb, she's not small, she's on the large side of normal. I agree with Stormi and would do hand targeting to teach jump - but I'll also warn you that you could be creating a monster - I have two jumpers here, and "Pit Bull on a Pogostick" can be a bit intimidating to other peopl...

Re: Info about weight pulling?

Before she pulls anything, it's important that she have a correctly fitted weight pulling harness. They're not that expensive, and it makes all the difference in the world. Just like you wouldn't want to go for a hike, or dance, in shoes that didn't fit. I do pull competitively, and I'm training a ...

Re: Walking with weights question and a question about jumpi

Hand targeting is an easy way to teach a jump on cue. Has she done that before? Nope, not sure how to do that either... its a huge learning process for me as well.. she knows sit, down, stay, crate, load up, shake, and other paw... other paw is when she shakes, i can get her to switch paws simultan...

Re: Walking with weights question and a question about jumpi

I personally wouldn't do weight training with backpacks, I'd get a proper harness and do drags. As for the jumping, have you tried standing in front of a "jump"-like thing and have her jump over until you get it on command. Then gradually lower it, then remove it completely and see if she...
