Re: RAW feeding couple questions

I give my dogs, even the ones who don't eat a raw diet, beef marrow bones every other day. I can't speak for others, but I have had no issues with upset stomachs. Jack had a really bad bout of diarrhea; I fasted him the rest of the day (And gave him a dose of Pepto) and the next morning gave him a s...

Re: General rules for nutrition content in food

I look for protein content of 22% for my lazy dog, and 26% for my more active pup. They are still couch potatos compared to real working dogs, so anything higher than that is likely just turned to fat or nitrogenous wastes anyway. I don't like fat content higher than 15%... I see far too much pancr...

Re: Collars or harness for walking?

I use both. I generally allow my dogs to pull as hard as they want, as long as they want for the work-out. "Conditioning" harness from O'Brien's K9 Supply: http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t238/GSDBulldog/Harness.jpg http://www.obriensk9supply.com/store/index.php?target=products&prod...

Re: General rules for nutrition content in food

I look for a high protein content (36%+), a high fat content (22%+), and generally for grain-free foods.

Strange Fixation on Bicycle, Please Help

Just looking for some help on how to get Jack to ignore the bicycle so that I have another outlet for exercise. If he sees it, it peaks his interest. The second the bike moves, he is on it (I've gone through 2 tires) and I need physically remove him, all the while he is screaming and acting a fool. ...

Re: Loyalty, Honor, Respect

Welcome :hi Not sure if you're in the area or not, but Pit Bull Awareness Day is coming up and there will be a big event in Tampa. Should take your pretty gal :) The Mid-FL APBT Association is hosting it the 30th, at the Veteran's Memorial Park. It's a good way to meet fellow fanciers. As far as bul...

Re: What do you look for in a rescue....

Pit bull rescues specifically...: -A rather low turn-over rate. I am suspicious of "pit bull" rescues that place multiple dogs every week. -An active involvement in the breed and the community. -Knowledgeable foster homes that don't just warehouse the dog temporarily, but truly acclimate t...

Re: Why do you feed the food you do?

Isaac eats Nature's Recipe because it's cheap, honestly. It's a good mid-range food, and he does well on it. Also, being a Chihuahua... His dietary needs are a bit simpler than my over-active bulldogs. I feed Jack and Howie Life's Abundance because it's affordable and the company ships directly to m...

Nope, no BSL in Tampa. We do, however, have a very large, very active pit bull community and monthly fun shows and pulls :)
