Re: Anal gland question

Re: Anal gland question

a bit more info: he had a vet visit a few weeks ago.. and he hates to get his temp taken. Is it possible he may have injured a gland during the procedure, as he tries to get away during the temp taking? He was also float checked for worms and he is clean. his feces has little smell on RAW but this f...

Anal gland question

how much fluid can be contained in these glands for a 65lb APBT? I believe he just expressed his glands himself outside. He squatted like he was ready to go poo, his anus pulsated a few times and there was this fluid. The fluid was a brownish-yellowish color and there was ALOT. It definetly was NOT ...

stung by a bee 3 weeks ago, still pain in paw

so, my APBT was stung by a bee about 3 weeks ago on the forepaw... and was seen by the vet a few days after the sting. The vet said it looked fine, the swelling had decreased and the wound was clean. Yesterday, while playing with him, he stepped on the paw wrong and "yelped" in pain. I can...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

I see where you are coming from El_EmDubya and I am working on not only simplifying my feeding practices, but will also now be moving Kanobi off kibble period and only feeding raw. I am now also a member in both [RC] and [RF] on facebook. Between this site and rf/rc I now have a lot more information...

Re: New puppy food switch + parvo question

found this quote similar in several articles : " Right now, it is currently being studied if the parvo virus is actually an airborne disease, because there are instances of contagion with airborne associations." Prevention: Thoroughly clean and disinfect the quarters of infected animals. P...

Re: New puppy food switch + parvo question

since Parvo is that bad in your area, I would suggest purchasing "booties" for your pup so his feet don't contact any other animals feces. here is a Bing search page of doggie booties: most online and retail pet stores carry them: also good for keeping pups feet warm in the winter: http://...

Why?

personal choice.... he gets the needed vitamins and minerals from the kibble, so I don't need to give him supplements. I know for a fact I'm not the only one here that feeds both kibble and raw.

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

well, I went to my local butcher shop yesterday and hit the mother load. I got fresh un-frozen marrow bones and frozen meaty half knuckles. He gets 1 cup of kibble in the morning and 1 marrow bone at night. He has the meaty knuckles whenever he wants to chew. I bought 1 weeks worth of afternoon raw ...

helped a neighbor and her dog

Since I started feeding my Pit, Kanobi, Natures Variety, Ive been talking to people about dog health and proper nutrition. My neighbor owns a Yorky, she is 12 and the poor little thing had the beginings of cancer. She was out of energy quickly and did very little. I gave her some NV and in 6 months ...

Re: Top 5 Foods

It has been a constant struggle for me to find a food that is good for my boy as well as affordable. I was looking at Purina's Pro Plan and was wondering if anyone had tried it? First Ten Ingredients in Pro Plan: Beef brewers rice corn gluten meal whole grain wheat whole grain corn animal fat prese...

Re: More frequent BM on grain free?

Kanobi experienced the same issue after moving him to grain/gluten/potato free. I also feed NV kibble. Three things that he gets on almost a daily basis now that seemed to clear up his multiple bowel movements: 1) his nighttime snack is a small amount of ALL natural Jiff or Skippy peanutbutter. The ...

Re: Suggestions for my Pits Woof Day (Birthday) present

its not a constant thing but he gets raw often... just smaller amounts. he has chowed down on chicken 1/4's and did very well. he doesn't do well with turkey or pork, gets the runs. but beef, lamb and chicken he is fine. he gets a bit gassy with the higher protein but that's about it. his normal mea...
