Many people feed their dogs nothing but raw meat. As others have said, the raw meat shouldn't be a concern, BUT the grapes SHOULD be a concern. Why take the chance when you don't have to?

Not to hijack, but how do you know it's yeast and not fungus? Because Butters has icky brown nails, and he's always fighting ringworm on his fur so I assumed it had gotten down into his nails. If it's yeast, will it just be at the base? Hijack all you want. Reading about other people's issues with ...

^^ My dogs broke theirs like that. I have this one now. I really didn't want it since it is held up by pressure and isn't screwed into the wall, but it was our only truly affordable option at the time (that didn't have to be shipped in). We bought it at Petsmart for $70. I LOVE the walk through part...

I picked up the shampoo. $15 for a bottle. The ingredients are miconazole nitrate 2% and chlorhexidine gluconate 2%.

I guess Jake will start getting twice a week baths now (boy will he really hate me! lol)

Thanks!

Wow! So what do I need to do about it? I just called Petsmart, and they said they don't carry anything like the Malaseb wipes you mentioned or any shampoos for yeast infections. I got mine from my vet. It was 20 dollars for a box of 60 towelettes. You could also try soaking his feet in a 1:1 vinega...

I saw Malaseb shampoo and what not on an internet site a bit ago, on sale: http://bullwrinklerx.com/SearchResult.aspx?KeyWords=malaseb Thanks! I'm on hold again with the vet to see if I can buy them without having to bring him in or if I need to make an appointment. I can always order it online too...

I should mention that some of the "redness" you see is also dirt/mud. It rained last night. Not sure how much of a difference that makes, but thought I'd point it out.

Oh man... ya just gotta love allergy season! He's got a yeast infection... see those brown edges on the nail?? And the red tint in his fur too... Malassezia is almost as itchy as sarcoptic mange... so its no wonder the poor kid did a number on his nails!! I use malaseb wipes for Romeo when his feet...

I swear this dog will be the death of me! The vet said to just leave it alone, not bandage it up and that he doesn't need to be seen. It doesn't seem right to me though. I took a picture of it and wanted to get your opinions. I noticed the past couple of days that he was licking it a lot, but...

He chewed his toenail off?!

WTH? Jake chewed one of his toenails off. It's completely RAW right now!

I'm on the phone with the vet to see what to do about it. :po:

dr961, Yes we have seen his vet about it, especially after his neuter. We were working with two different vets (because the one who did his neuter worked with the shelter and was not our vet), and neither one could find anything wrong with him for it or because of the neuter. I don't know the specif...
