Re: Re: New MCT? chewing his backside and a bald cat

Thanks misskiwi I dosed him with frontline and fleacombed him. Didn't see any but he saw the cone and ran to the door. Anything to avoid wearing it. :)I want to get an inflatable one. Welcome to springtime... the bald cat is overgrooming and probably itchy. The hot spot is also due to itching. Put a...

Re: New MCT? chewing his backside and a bald cat

When dogs chew that much on their backside, the first thing that comes to my mind is fleas. Not necessarily that he HAS fleas, but that he has been bitten by a flea...and perhaps has an allergy to fleas. I used to see this a lot when I was a groomer and worked in a vet hospital. One of my parent's ...

New MCT? chewing his backside and a bald cat

This is not a good day! Woke up to slurpy noises and Jack was chewing up his backside- I don't know why- he recently switched to raw and is on year round flea preventative. He doesn't mind the taste of bitter apple and I figured I'd take them on a walk even though it's freezing out- but at least his...

Re: switched to raw

There are a lot of different brands of dog (and cat) premade raw. Once you get used to it, you might find it worthwhile to do it yourself, since it's MUCH MUCH cheaper to do that than the premade. But the convenience of premade is lovely, and I admit I usually have a day or two of premade in the fr...

switched to raw

My local feed store sells frozen raw patties that are formulated with all the bones, organs, etc. so it makes rawfeeding idiot proof for people like me. It's Thomaston Feed if anyone is in the area - the owner wrote a book "To Your Dog's Health" and I have learned a lot from him. I never s...

Re: new here

Hi welcome :) kids and dogs are a great combination and it sounds like your dog is really tolerant I have 3 kids and always owned dogs. Just to be safe I supervised kids and pups when together and never allowed roughhousing like riding on or tailpulling or messing with ears. At some point the dog ma...

Re: New grain-free dog food!

Im still feeding it but mine did ok on kirkland lamb also. Their poops are a little looser than I like which wouldn't bother me except their normal potty area in the back woods is snowed in so they are going close to the house and I have to pick it up :(

Re: Trust your Vet to spay or go with the cheapo clinic?

I used a voucher for a lowcost neuter for jack and he did great. I got the voucher from the shelter where I adopted him. For ellie I used hope clinic for her spay and they charged around $100. for spay, tattoo, vacc, nails -the works. Very happy. They might receive grants or donations to offer low c...

Re: A couple of scuffles

Thanks guys= roflmao Hell if someone threw that last slice of pizza between me and a friend there might be a scuffle there as well. Yep as long as it took me to stop the kids and hubby from feeding the dogs under the table and even longer to get the dogs to stay out of the kitchen it all went to hel...

Re: nibbling/flea biting the cat.

We have 3 cats and each one interacts differently with the dogs. One is timid and avoids them at all times. The dogs ignore her. One of the male cats is a big bully with the other cats and he also hisses and swipes at the dogs. They act afraid of him, although once he got bit, by which dog I dont kn...

A couple of scuffles

So this is why holidays are so stressful. Yesterday we just finished eating dinner and I was clearing the table. The dogs were sitting very nicely in the alcove off the kitchen. There are two doors off there- one goes outside and one down to the cellar which is always open a crack so the cats can ge...

Re: Possibly a Chew-Proof Leash

we haven't used cable tie outs in years- not since the screw in the ground type came unscrewed when the ground was saturated and I chased after the dog and fell in the mud and got a burn across my palm and leg and got whacked in the side of the head with the metal corkscrew thingy. I agree, much eas...
