Re: Help? Broken tooth. *cry*

Very informational visit-- met w a faculty vet, resident, and a student. All voted not to extract the tooth. One was pretty emphatic on a root canal instead of the partial pulpectomy. The other vet was more open to both but said due to his age she would probably do a root canal. If he was under 2 an...

Re: Help? Broken tooth. *cry*

Yeah, I was up til midnight researching dental specialists and thankfully also called UC Davis veterinary teaching hospital. They had a dentist there at 1150pm and she talked to me for a while. We discussed root canal vs partial pulpectomy vs extraction. I'm currently hoping we can do the partial pu...

Re: Help? Broken tooth. *cry*

I think Nichole had a root canal done with one of her girls. Hopefully she sees this. Buddy fractured both of her bottom canines off chewing and needed them extracted. That was a year before she had 13 other extractions. So she and I are sending your handsome boy our wishes for a speedy recovery! Y...

Re: Help? Broken tooth. *cry*

Well, I just read about root canals and pulp therapy. His last extraction + dental was $1800 (though my vet discounted it to $1200 since I work at the shelter) so I am really worried that a root canal or pulp therapy will be double that. Oh man. Oh well. I got some $$ from Christmas gifts that was g...

Help? Broken tooth. *cry*

Do you think it can be saved? Upper R canine. I don't want it extracted and I'm working both Christmas and NY (I'm so depressed about that already) so I will have a little extra money for fancy dental stuff. Poor dude can't catch a break. He gets so stressed at work lately so I've been leaving him a...

Bumping up for Grace again! I can't believe no one wants such a stunning, active, loving dog!She would be perfect for you sport dog people!! Please cross post her far and wide! Re: Oral flea medication - anyone tried?

A friend uses Comfortis on their 5 (!) dogs and it works OK, not perfectly but there *are 5 dogs and the yard has dirt/plants/poultry; I have better success with Frontline Plus but have just 1 dog, a yard that is mostly pavers, and of course B needs tick control. My other friend uses AcuGuard for hi...

Re: Question about dosage for Tramadol?

^ This. A 50mg tablet given twice (or 3 times) per day is a dosage I've seen prescribed very often for dogs, based on their weight (and I'm not talking 200-lb Giant breeds, either!) Hopefully that helps relieve some worry, along with MK's post. This dosing doesn't automatically sound alarmingly high...

Re: Betsy

We just found a great family home for a sweet sweet easy pit mix girlie at my work. They came in looking at dogs and knew they didn't want a tiny dog or a "crazy pit bull," but she won them over just being soft and gentle and herself. It happens, it just took a while. Plus she was sort of ...

Seems like the poops aren't nearly as ridiculous anymore, or I got used to them? Most amazingly-- Booker's feet look great! Knock on wood but his sores/cysts are GONE. We...

Re: Betsy

Because she isn't the most pit-bully-looking girl, maybe you can get her in at an all-breed adoption event or see if other reputable local all-breed rescue will cross-post her or courtesy list her? At my shelter, people who adopt pit bull mixes often are just looking for a nice family pet with few p...

Re: Protective aggression?

Typically, shelters and rescues screen adoption candidates for their responses to everyday things we do to pet dogs like strangers making eye contact, or friendly strangers petting them, or mild restraint similar to a hug. It may help the shelter you got her from better place and evaluate their dogs...

Re: Nutri Source = Poop City

Interesting. He used to eat NB LID and CA Natural and I don't necessarily remember all this poop but maybe I've just conveniently forgotten. There's just so much excrement in my life already, normally B doesn't contribute much but I guess all things change. Haha. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
