Re: You had a dog, and all of a sudden you have a baby...

Oh, to answer first part of your post. Yes, he is probably being nervous for that very reason. I don't agree with never letting her into the room. I will have a baby gate, when I am not in the room to supervise, but if I am there (ie feeding, etc) I don't see why she can't hang out with me.

Otis, there is simply no room in our room for crate, bed, baby crib, changing table and our bed. I can't put baby in a hallway :)

You had a dog, and all of a sudden you have a baby...

How did you change your dog's living arrangements? We live in a one bedroom apt. and Sheba's bed is in our room. She sleeps in it most of the time - sometimes she will crawl into out bed, when it is getting too cold. Now I will have to squeeze few baby related furniture pieces into the bedroom too, ...

Re: Dock Diving 101

I'm so moving to Cali. lol Red loves dock diving and has done it at the local fair last year...she jumped 9'8" or close to it. That was her first official jumps. She dives off the boat docks all the time. lol lol Yeah, I don't see anything coming up in Washington... Of course, you can always o...

Re: To Muzzle Or Not to Muzzle

I guess it validates my opinion that muzzles should be individually fitted. Def. a good point. When I was looking for an Italian basket muzzle, the size that Sheba would normally wear was too narrow for her jaw. It fit, but I wouldn't have called it comfortable. Everywhere else it was perfect. Size...

Re: To Muzzle Or Not to Muzzle

chelsea00133, I understand you comments are coming from the right place, but saying that is something is horrible for a dog, thus implying what I am doing to my dog is horrible, without any direct knowledge is completely uncalled for and rude.

Re: Dock Diving 101

Bully-mommy, are they small, puppy size cuz toys, or regular big size? Keep in mind that it will be harder for a pup to grab something round floating in the water, especially if it is too big. It needs to be something he can easily put his mouth over.

Re: Dock Diving 101

what kind of supplies are you looking for? Rubber non slip surface can be purchased at Home Depot or similar large hardware store. Floating toys can be bought at pet stores, or online. You might want to get him smaller ones to start: http://www.amazon.com/Water-Wubba-Jr-3-1-13/dp/B0013Y0UJI/ref=sr_1...

Re: Need an experienced dock diving opinion.

I have to work on Dakotas shyness a bit, he is great with calm, respectful people but he will get fearful of the rude in your face type. Having other dogs around will help tremendously, he is great with other dogs and having other calm dogs around helps him be more outgoing and relaxed. Oh, calm an...

Re: Need an experienced dock diving opinion.

Splash dogs is the same. toy can't be alive in any point of its life, and it can't be food. Dogs jump after some really weird things sometimes. It all depends on what excites your dog. I had spent a small fortune on various floating toys in order to figure out what drives my dog truly bonkers that s...

Re: Dock Diving 101

Oy, your pond is big enough for ME to jump in :) I don't think you should have any worries there. What I would invest in (I don't know what kind of surface you have around your pond) is a long rubber mat, or some other material that won't get slippery when wet. Because your dog will be in and out of...

Re: Need an experienced dock diving opinion.

Thanks a ton Siberian! I have been looking into local clubs and I plan on signing him up with Shasta Splash. I also have to look into getting him a toy that floats, I doubt we can use sticks in competition. Are you really far from Sacramento? There is a huge event this weekend. I could help you get...
