Julie, I'm starting to teach my fearful dog object discrimination, but will that help him with his fear of strangers and kids? I make strangers give him treats, but so far he's not improving discernibly.

There was a dog on Caesar Millan's show who became insanely obsessed with moving light because of one game with a laser pointer. It was really sad. He couldn't think of anything else, just constantly looked for moving lights.

I think that part of Milan's succes is that everything seems to be fixed so quickly Yes, this. But it's an illusion, imo, in many cases. I have a very fearful dog. If Caesar Millan were to "work with" him on his show, he would flood him with the things he fears -- mostly strangers touchin...

Any decent doggie day care place has workers circulating among the dogs stopping any fight before it happens. You don't have to be a genius or a trainer to know how to identify signs of conflict and break things up before they start. I'm sure if you left Caesar's "pack," or a bunch of dogs...

Oh my god, Cedric sounds just like Piney! And I'll tell you, it has been VERY EXPENSIVE to deal with him, especially not knowing at first what we were dealing with.

Does he act fearful in other ways? How long has he been at your house? Are his parents fearful in any way?

My next dog will absolutely be an adult dog. I love my Piney, but he has grown to have serious health and temperamental problems that would have been evident if I had met him as an adult.
