I spend about $46 per month on a balanced raw food. Usually its keeper if you feed along BARF guidlines from what I've read. But here are a few places that may help you convience you mom to feed raw.

I agree with the link about 2% being a good starting point. I feed my female 2% and it really leanered her out nicely and she wasn't over weight in the least bit. The 2.5 or 3% is good to increase weight a bit more.
