Re: Fleas *sob!*

Food grade DE is a great insecticide, but you do have to exercise some caution around the animals to make sure you don't sprinkle it where they might INHALE it. It won't hurt them to ingest it, but it is a powder. Granted it tends to cling/stick to things, so that's good, but if you put it where the...

Re: Turned Out Front Feet

SBTs are supposed to turn out in the front. From the standard: "Forequarters Legs straight and well boned, set rather far apart, without looseness at the shoulders and showing no weakness at the pasterns, from which point the feet turn out a little. " Hey I learned something today about t...

Re: Turned Out Front Feet

He doesn't look THAT bad, and the dog you reference whose feet turned almost backwards obviously had some other issues besides "easty westy" going on. Lots of dogs are slightly easty westy. I wouldn't be too concerned if it's only as bad as in the photos, but one thing you can do is try to...

Yep, though it doesn't just have to be Dawn dish soap. Any plain jane dish soap will work.

Junior - Senior boy in Sacramento

Junior is a pup at heart. He was scheduled to be euthanized in a local shelter, and he has been one of our CGC shelter training candidates, so when the shelter scheduled him to be euthanized, we pulled him (thanks to a veterinarian who volunteered to foster at our New Year's Eve event!) http://i117....

Re: Breeding Q- No Im not breeding my speutered dogs :P

I'm going to see my GSD friend today, so I'll ask her...but I know she has had two litters of working dogs in her time, and in both litters, the X rays were off. Different vets each time, I believe. But it could be they were doing them too early. I'll find out for sure!

Re: Breeding Q- No Im not breeding my speutered dogs :P

X raying, in my experience, doesn't do a lot of good. My friend's working GSD had a recent litter. X Rays said 5 pups. Dog ended up having 11 pups! That happens a lot. It seems x rays rarely give an accurate count. The only time they are useful is if they show five, and the mother isn't doing much a...

Re: Pickles - Sacramento

Bump. Amending original posting -- she is good with cats on leash, supervised. She will chase them, however, so probably should be in a home without cats. :) We can arrange transport to screened homes. We are hoping to place Pickles in an active home with someone that wants an activity/running/bikin...
