Re: Luigi missed the part about pit bulls being stoic...

LOL You just made me laugh out loud with the image of him jumping on all fours for a treat and then going back to being pathetic. I had a dog that got an illness that required a regiment of antibiotics. I first noticed it because he wouldn't eat his breakfast, and the dog never met an edible anythin...

Generally, no -- the stun should not be transferred to your dog or to you under most circumstances.

Re: When is a door bell not a door bell?

I've seen little paw chimes that dogs bat with their paw to alert you to go out.... much like one of those round push-button closet lights.

Re: I need some level headed advice.

Yes, there are many avenues for help. Unfortunately, it's easy to second guess any decision (whether one euthanizes or tries to keep the dog). Just recently, a friend of mine had a dog she had been working with for a few years (saw behaviorists, etc.). She finally made the decision to euthanize the ...

Re: I need some level headed advice.

You asked if it were MY dog what would I do -- if I believed my dog to be unstable and a danger to people, I would euthanize my dog. To me, believing I can be vigilant 100% of the time and ensuring that there will never, ever be an accident where someone gets hurt (or even a completely unforeseen si...

Re: Ollie is back with us

Leila, I sympathize. When I got my old gal, I was looking for a middle of the road dog in terms of drive. What I got was a tasmanian devil on speed. To this day, I swear she fixed the temperament test results just so I would pick her (and then showed her true colors once I got her back home when she...

Re: Ollie is back with us

Ollie has been adopted -- again! *fingers crossed* Had very in depth conversations with them about his pros/cons and he's on his two week trial. So far, they report he's doing well and have entertained us with his postings on Facebook, so I'm optimistic he's found his forever home! :)

Re: Has anyone ordered from "silverleaf Leather"?

Rivet strength depends on the kind of rivet you use. I am very very picky about rivets and only use a certain kind. You also need to make sure they are set correctly and that they are the proper length. I realize that. I use screws because I like them, and they have always worked well for me and my...

Re: Ollie is back with us

We will do an out of state adoption for the RIGHT Home, if we can arrage home checks, etc. and if there are no other dogs in the home. (Just in case the resident animal doesn't take to him or he becomes less dog friendly as he matures).

Ollie is back with us

Ollie is a dog we saved from being euthanized at the city shelter. Here is his video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T_HicDiGFc He is an awesome dog, but he's a LOT of dog, which makes him a hard to place dog. :) So, I'm networking him, and we will do an out of state adoption if we can arrange a ho...

Re: Recall in the Yard

I still don't want to give treats for coming inside when asked to. I'm sorry, but that has always been a pet peeve of mine. People call their dogs in and give them a treat for doing what they're supposed to do. Then, if they forget to get a treat or are not fast enough, the dog goes to the shelf/cu...

Lucky and Cagney

Found these two strays running along the side of the road. Pulled ahead of them, opened the car door, and they both happily jumped inside. Unfortunately, we only had a foster spot for one, so the red and white male (possible mix) went to city animal control (we asked them to give us a heads up if he...
