Re: Open obedience issue: dropping on sit/stay
I read that she usually works solo and recruiting a second person is hard

Re: Open obedience issue: dropping on sit/stay
Well, you will have to find some way to monitor her out of site. Either with a friend spying for you or a mirror or even a web camera and a laptop. When she goes from the sit to the down, you don't have to scare the beejus out of her, but I would rush up to her and firmly correct her and put her bac...

Re: Pickles - Sacramento
Bump. Amending original posting -- she is good with cats on leash, supervised. She will chase them, however, so probably should be in a home without cats. :) We can arrange transport to screened homes. We are hoping to place Pickles in an active home with someone that wants an activity/running/bikin...

Re: Cute little moo-cow stray (Sacramento)
RIP Yeah I was just gonna post that we train Pit Bulls at the shelter for the CGC and I never saw her in the adoptable area. Had no idea until today she was there (just saw the post). (Not that we could have pulled her --we are SO full right now). -Dawn- http://www.chako.org" onclick="window.open(th...

YES, they DO make sunscreen for dogs. You can use human sunscreen that is formulated for BABIES.

Re: Health Precautions for the Beach
Heat stroke should not be a problem, but some shade/umbrella is good -- and you can let him go into the water to help cool off a bit. Try not to let him do any of his business on the beach. Take him for regular walks. IF he does have an "oops" and go on the beach, make sure you pick it up ...

Re: Nosework week 2 (video)
My dog Shogun is not fit to participate in agility (which he LOVES) and nosework has been such a great outlet for him. We took a beginner class and we are excited about moving on to the next level. I totally recommend this class, especially to dogs who may not be able to participate in very physica...

Re: Pickles - Sacramento
Hey dogs are all great in their own way
Pickles' greatness comes from her speed and agility, pogo stick legs, goofy ears, and phenomenal brindle color pattern. Oh, and did I mention she loves to

Re: Pickles - Sacramento
Pickles is still looking for her forever home. She is a very active girl who will need an active home--someone who likes to run or hike or bike. Because she's a runner, she should never be left off leash (she will keep you chasing her -- and yes, we are working on her recall, but she's got the terri...

Re: What sort of crate should I use?
You're welcome! The Commander crates do fold up but they fold up a bit strangely. Not like what I think of as a normal folding crate, they fold sideways and end up flat but kind of big. Their "Fold & Carry" model does fold up smaller if that is an issue. Ah, well not ideal, but still ...

Re: What sort of crate should I use?
Thanks for posting that link. Like we needed to spend another $135 right now! :) BUT I could NOT pass that up as we frequently get rescue houdini dogs, and having a FOLDABLE strong crate is AWESOME (I thought I had a strong one before, but it ended up toast after several good years of service when t...
