We got our first cat kinda by accident. We were at my brother's townhouse, when a neighborhood child knocked on the door, and handed this tiny grey kitten to my brother saying, "We found this kitten in the street, Mom says we can't keep it!" And handed it to my brother. She was too cute to...

When my husband was growing up, they had a dog, I think it was the mutant austrailian shepherd (perfect proportions, but 2 sizes too big) that kept getting out of their yard. They had a 6-foot wooden stockade fence. They found holes in the fence but didn't think it could be the dog. They finally saw...

I'm soooo jealous of you two!

GAH!

Where is the fast forward button!

Logan's story is soooo sad. :crybaby: I really feel for that owner. At least she did the right thing and didn't drop him off at a kill shelter.

Was wondering what your definition of unsupervised is? If you are out doing yardwork, and the dog is out with you, is that considered unsupervised? Do we have to have our total attention on the dog at all times? We have a fenced in yard, but Shelby's never been off leash, cause she is small enough t...

No, actually, I think it would make me feel better. I'd know the vet understood what I was going through.

I don't mind docking cause like everyone has said, its done so early. Ear cropping is another story. I personally wouldn't do it, because I don't see the reason. However, I don't judge other people for doing it, cause everyone's different. I think I'm partially against dogs getting their ears croppe...

I guess I'd sum it up in one phrase: I like a vet that tries to put themselves in your shoes. And it's not just limited to the vet, but to their staff as well. When I lived in VA, my dad had to get one of our dogs put to sleep. A month later, we got a bill in the mail. It was a bill for the followin...

Well, we had been worried about Shelby cause she hadn't been eating, and then later that night, she started vomiting... she threw up about 10 times in an hour. We rushed her to the emergency vet, and they diagnosed the parvo, but they aren't open during the day, so they'd only do the one night, then...

The out of state part I can understand, but people come on here all the time wanting to get a pup or they bought a pup from a BYB and say there weren't any in their area for adoption. Either they didn't look hard enough or were too impatient to wait for one to come along. While some places don't ad...

Hubby and I just went through this. Weighing cost and quality of life for our 11 year old bullmastiff lady. After the vet explained all the treatment options, and the fact that it was a good possibility that none of them would work, added to her arthritis, and her age in general, we knew it was time...

Where's all the people that say they can't ever find a pup for adoption so they bought from a BYB instead? Some of them won't adopt out of state, and some have prohibitive adoption fees. When brining home a new dog, there are lots of financial concerns, and if half the initial budget is taken up by...
