Re: ears and rears

If a food trial is recommended, then it needs to be a full-out food trial. Simply feeding the food is not preventative, it is the avoidance of the things that the dog may be allergic to that is curative. The most common food allergies - in order - are beef, dairy, chicken, and then the high protein ...

Re: Color Dilution Alopecia

Are you treating for demodex? If not, I'd ask your dermatologist if you can try treatment.

If your dog is itchy, it is not color dilution alopecia.

 The extra weight is probably adding burden and pain - so when that comes off it should help some. Don't go on less walks because it makes you sad. Think of her happiness. They may be slower, but I'm sure she still loves them - even at a leisurely pace. :) They are also very important for taki...

Re: Stuffed Kong on raw diet?

I still give Kongs with peanut butter. You can just stuff them with raw ground meat though. Although sticking to what you described, but not using kibble would probably be fine. =] Raw meat stuffing sounds like a really bad idea to me. Just because dogs can eat gross things doesn't mean cleanliness...

Re: Questions

Most foods getting "ideal" ratings are too rich for large breed puppies and will make this puppy worse. Just because you don't like the food being fed doesn't mean what you think is good would be better.

I do, however, agree that the bread is not likely a good idea.

Re: Questions

Its a growth abnormality caused by the tendons growing at different rates than the bones. He needs a quality puppy food (for large breeds if he is a large breed), he should not have access to floors that are slippery, and time. Most dogs will grow out of it with a quality diet - NOT a home-made diet...

Re: CCL repair walking video - Feedback wanted

Looks good to me. As long as she is putting a reasonable amount of weight on the knee she is doing well. It should get better with time and be 90% or better by 6-8 weeks, some dogs are there by 4 weeks, but should not be allowed to do too much too soon..

Re: pit/husky mix in heat...maybe?

The entire heat cycle for a dog is about 21 days. Some will only bleed the first 1/3, others will bleed the entire cycle. Its very variable. As long as its not excessive, odorous, and your dog is acting fine, she's probably fine. If there's any question at all, you should probably still see your vet.

If its less than 10% of her calories (and with 5 cups of food it likely is) You can give her just about anything to introduce her to the variety without worrying about balance, just have fun!

I give my pups just about avert thing while Im cooking - eggs, meats, veggies, pasta... Mix it up

Re: Blue Buffalo food and 9 week old puppy, possible UTI?

Urinary tract infection is very common in girl puppies - that sounds like what she has but it is best confirmed by a vet visit. Blue Buffalo is a fine food - I have also seen reports of bladder stones from wellness and solid gold - nothing consistent to blame on a single food. If your puppies parent...

Re: HELP Boogie has a problem!

If his intestines are bunching, he could have some string in there. I've taken string out of dog and cat intestines a dozen times where the owners had never seen the string I gave them and never known their pet had eaten anything. No more Cerenia. It makes them feel better but it covers up the sympt...

Re: Tumors

I'm not familiar with any sort of injection that results in treatment of tumors. Without knowing more I can't tell you if its a good idea or not.

Why can't the lumps be removed surgically?
