Re: Nothing you haven't heard before...

If its less than 10% of her calories (and with 5 cups of food it likely is) You can give her just about anything to introduce her to the variety without worrying about balance, just have fun!

I give my pups just about avert thing while Im cooking - eggs, meats, veggies, pasta... Mix it up

Re: Blue Buffalo food and 9 week old puppy, possible UTI?

Urinary tract infection is very common in girl puppies - that sounds like what she has but it is best confirmed by a vet visit. Blue Buffalo is a fine food - I have also seen reports of bladder stones from wellness and solid gold - nothing consistent to blame on a single food. If your puppies parent...

Re: HELP Boogie has a problem!

If his intestines are bunching, he could have some string in there. I've taken string out of dog and cat intestines a dozen times where the owners had never seen the string I gave them and never known their pet had eaten anything. No more Cerenia. It makes them feel better but it covers up the sympt...

Re: Tumors

I'm not familiar with any sort of injection that results in treatment of tumors. Without knowing more I can't tell you if its a good idea or not.

Why can't the lumps be removed surgically?

Re: Tumors

I would ask for a referral to an oncologist. If you are going to treat cancer, you are better off seeing an expert.

Re: Knee Surgery - Yes or no?

Even a veterinarian cannot (should not) diagnose a CCL rupture based on x-rays alone. Yes, the pattern is there, but that pattern is related to joint inflammation, and while CCL is the most common, it is not the only reason this can occur. A physical exam is essential to making this diagnosis. If yo...

Re: Vet Advice? swollen glands

Some dogs have glands that are very easy to feel, others are difficult. I can nearly wrap my fingers around Lenas salivary glands below her jaw, the lymph nodes are not as prominent. If your vet wasn't worried, I wouldn't worry. Be sure to bring it up again at your next visit so you know what is nor...

Re: Low-Impact Exercise

Slow walks are best if they can't swim. The more weight he loses the better his joints will feel and he will be able to do more. Hopefully he can drop some pounds fast! I would also recommend restricting his food even more than you would expect to need. Overweight dogs metabolisms are often much slo...

Re: anyone with issues with there dogs chewing feet

it is definitely not a staph infection... it never presents until there is a "bloody" meal given, ie beef heart or when the majority of skin is left on chicken... so I will assume that it is related to what the prey animal was fed... and what is contained in the blood of the meal. The bum...

This is a classic symptom of staph infection.

This is old school information. Dermatologist now feel behavioral chewing is rare. Get a second opinion.

Re: what age to spay?

Pros and Cons to both sides, but very little is more risky than an increase in risk of mammary cancer to 10% after the 1st heat and 25% after the second heat. 50% of mammary cancer is neoplastic, 50% is not. I do monthly breast exams on my dog who was spayed late in life to monitor for development o...
