Re: Feeding Raw

I started Apollo on RAW, I got some heart and liver for him. How do you cut it up? Does it bleed all over? Cut up both of those items when they are mostly frozen. MUCH easier and less messy. Have you been reading b/c neither heart nor liver are appropriate "starter" foods. I suggest chick...

Re: Fed a raw bone but still puking up sharp pieces

This is why I don't feed these giant bones. Keep food in his tummy to encourage his stomach acids to continue to "work" on the bone in there. They typically throw up bone pieces when it's all that's left in the stomach and yet more bile and digestive acids get pumped in there to try and &q...

Re: Good Lord, anything else at this time?

Val - I am so very sorry that this year has brought you so much heartache. I can only hope that 2012 brings brighter skies for your home. I wish you some sense of peace. I can't speak for her, but in a shelter or foster setting when we have an adult pit bull (already the most difficult type of dog t...

Re: opinions if I'm feeding my dogs properly

Well heres the pics I said I would get, they are a little blurry must have had the camera on the wrong setting. My pit Rocko just looks thin to me, my Rottie Debo looks pretty good, but has lost several pounds lately. I'm going to scale back on the veggies until I get a processor. They looks fine t...

Re: opinions if I'm feeding my dogs properly

Tonight, when you are making dinner, weigh out what they get of eat thing (meat, veggie, etc) so you know how much they are getting of what. Without that, we'll have to make some assumptions. I ask about photos because, honestly, the majority of people who join asking about their dogs getting skinny...

Re: opinions if I'm feeding my dogs properly

Got any photos? Asking since you say they are gettign skinnier.

At first glance this seems decent though your lack of paragraphs does make it hard to read.

What exactly is in your veggie mix?

Re: Feeding Raw

Thanks! I'll start experimenting in excel, I didn't even think to use that program :) Yeah keeping Charlie Brown on kibble is a good idea for now. Right now he eats more than the girls so calculating the % of food he'd need to continue growing would be a little more difficult. oh then you might fin...

Re: Let's Talk Vomit

Her stomach is empty and irritated at that point and so he vomits bile.

When do you feed dinner? You should consider giving her a pre-bedtime snack that she'll enjoy.

Re: Not Keeping Weight Off As Easily?

FYI - a hotdog (ballpark Frank) is 180 calories per hot dog. This is the equivalent of 1/2 cup of average dry dog food. You are essentially feeding 3 cups dry food per training session, thats a lot of calories! We use hot dogs and sometimes if they are working on something that's hard for Levi he g...

Re: Feeding Raw

I do the bigger bones in crates without bedding. Then I can clean out the crates afterward. Plus then everyone is in their "safe place" for enjoying it. Same thing with dinner for the majority of my crew. Franny takes forever so she eats in the kitchen and Hank eats in the living room out ...
