I've never used merrick but a friend swears by it and her dogs look really good on it. One is a 60 pound pitbull that is full of energy and the merrick food keeps the dog in good shape, lots of energy, and a great coat. As for the raw instincts my only concern is the high protein. Ive been hearing ab...

which of these foods should i try

I'm thinking of rotating in either natures variety raw instinct or one of the merrick foods. Here is the merrick food. Ingredients: Beef, Oatmeal, Barley, Beef Meal, Whole Brown Rice, Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols – a source of Natural Vitamin E and Ascorbic Acid, a source of Vitamin ...

I usually freeze it at least a few days before i feed it to the dogs, sometimes longer. Also, when i thaw it out it goes into the fridge to thaw before the dogs eat it, that way it never gets back to room temperature where all the bad stuff can begin to thrive again. The main things to avoid are brai...

My dog gets high protein foods once in a while but i couldnt imagine feeding him anything processed that has 42% protein for a long period of time.

wellness ?

Bought a bag of wellness fish and sweet potato for variety and noticed it had a made in canada sticker on it(might have been a product of canada or something like that). Does anyone know anything about the plant they manufacture in, or what other foods are made there? I'm not worried at all since ca...

This is the ingredient list that is floating around now. Not sure how accurate it is. Chicken Meal, Tapioca, Chicken Fat(preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Pumpkin Seed, Menhaden Fish Meal, Alfalfa Meal, Montmorillonite Clay, Chicken Liver Flavor, Vitamins (Choline Chloride, Vitamin ...

Visine is a bad idea. It will eventually make your eyes stay red and be dependent on the drops so i imagine it would be similar with dogs.

Had a friend go through a similar experience with hookworms and the only thing that made a difference was when she was put on heartgard plus. The dog was deathly scrawny for quite a while. Its an ab but looked leaner than a chinaman dog for a while. Dewormed 3 times with no luck. It may have been a c...

I know someone whos pitbull ate an entire bag of mm's, a big bag and it didnt show any signs of trouble. Its energy level was really high for a an hour or so but other than that the dog was fine.

I do feed a 30% protein feed once in a while during hard working times or during the colder months. Ive seen many dogs live full healthy lives on 30% feeds but 42% seems to be pushing it a bit.

The thing that bothered me the most about evo was that my dog was thirsty constantly.

I do some weight pulling when its hot but i dont push the dog as hard as when cooler. I have a childs pool and fill it with cool water(keep it in the shade if possible) before the dog exercises so he can lay in it afterwards. Its best for them if they can coat their paws and stomach. That cools them...

Both are good products. It seems that the ivermectin in heartgard can kill heartworms at a later stage of development.

I liked evo at first but it seemed to fall short when i really pushed my dog(100lbs). My dog has done some weight pulling and he seemed to have more endurance and strength on other foods than he does on evo. I probably won't buy it again. There are many cheaper foods out there that gave better resul...
