That dog is eating TWO TABLESPOONS OF SALT A DAY!! Even if it's sea salt - no one is supposed to eat that much salt a day. Many people do, because it's in most processed food, but it's not healthy. The dog is also eating 2 garlic cloves a day. Garlic is good in small quantities, but how can that muc...

Raw Vegan Dog Food

HOLD YOUR ROTTEN TOMATOES!! I'm not promoting, just asking questions. I have a raw food (non)cook book, " Ani's Raw Food Kitchen " by Ani Phyo She has a recipe in here that she feeds to her dog, who is a 95 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback. She says that she adopted the dog, "Kanga" - w...

Re: Humping = Play time

I let it go on because Lua really seems to think Stella is playing with her, and Stella never plays with Lua. I understand things like humping can and do often start scuffles, and I wouldn't want that to happen if Lua suddenly decides it's not fun anymore. You said that Stella never plays with Lua ...

I've learned that vets(and doctors) are just people who went to school. School isn't a magical place that makes them any different from us. Most of their knowledge comes from a text book anyway. Sadly, they can be just as arrogant and/or stupid as anyone else. I'm not saying that there aren't great ...

While a dog can learn to make any behavior into a play behavior, the basis of mounting is not a natural play behavior. I wouldn't allow my dogs to mount each other, even if they were accepting and tolerated it, because it is one of the ruder behaviors and may not be tolerated by the dog being mounte...

Dogs don't hump to play, they're either doing it to breed with another dog or they're doing it as a pushy dominance gesture.

If your dog is the boss of the other dog, she wouldn't let him hump her - unless she's confused by what it means - which is almost never.

They aren't safe if your dog can break and eat the pieces. Cooked bones are dangerous because they're sharp and don't break down very well in the dog's system, like most raw bones do.

He stuck his finger up his :moon: and basically checked his S#$! He said if he had parvo it would be mushy and green..which he didnt have.. That's not true at all. And the parvo shots won't work until you're done with the whole set, which isn't until the dog is about 16 weeks old. Parvo shots do no...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong -

The vet can do titer tests on your dog to check it's immunity - BUT
Some vets think they are inaccurate and won't go by them. That's why they do 3 year vaccines for things like parvo and such.

Yes, if they have a compromised immune system. Immunity can fade over time, even if the dog is healthy.

Thread hijack alert! BrokenAquarian, whenever I see your dog's avatar image, I think that's the most beautiful dog ever! Thank you :) But she's not, really. It's just camera tricks and the help of black & white that make her look so good. There are many other dogs on here that out shine her, ev...

Crackers are made of white flour - which is made of wheat. I wouldn't feed them as a regular snack, but a couple every now and then shouldn't hurt him. :)

Intact males will whine a lot when there is a female dog in heat anywhere within a mile or two away from you.
