Re: Thyroid fun for everyone.

Ugh. I can relate. But can hardly muster enough sane words to post. Also hoping for thyroid to answer some Button issues. Thyroid is so so complicated, and when I think about the fact that it can cause super panic attacks in humans, it boggles my mind to think how it impacts dogs.

Re: Zero Tolerance for Even One Bark?

Of my 3, only Tucker is mostly quiet. Doc barks like a fool when he is frustrated or when someone is at the door, and Button loves to bark. Sometimes he barks in play, sometimes he alarm barks, sometimes he barks at his ball. I think he actually likes to bark. If I need him to be quiet, I just redir...

Re: Awkward topic ... dog erections

Sugar! Good to know! Thank you! Poor kid doesn't really know what to do when it happens, so he just stands there with his back arched and waits for it to go away. And to whoever asked, yes he is neutered. He's never humped anything in his life, either, which makes this so unusual. Maybe he's going t...

Awkward topic ... dog erections

So here's a kind of weird one ... I hope Button doesn't hate me for violating his privacy. Button is going to be 5 in November. He's never been a dog to get erections or crowning much (very occasionally maybe a little bit, but nothing compared to a lot of male dogs I've seen), and he has absolutely ...

Re: Homemade Tug?

Well ... it's pretty ghetto, but I've definitely cut the legs off a pair of old jeans and knotted the ends and used them for tugging. Denim is pretty easy on the hands if it's worn in, but it holds up surprisingly well if you don't leave it with your dog when you're not playing.

Re: Severe Anxiety

So here's my experience with dogs, anxieties and medication ... Button's had issues since we got him, but they became severe -- to the point that I was considering euthanasia -- about 2.5 years ago. We had "tried" various things, with varying small degrees of success ... a DAP diffuser, a ...

Re: Severe Anxiety

Hey, I'm a little busy today but I have lots of experience here. I have a medicated dog, and he's definitely not a lump on a couch. He's still a ball-obsessed nutball who will play all day. The difference is that he can now relax enough to play and enjoy his life with much less stress. More details ...

Re: Time for euthanasia?

Ditto. My Old lady dog, Reba, changed a lot between the ages of 14 and 16. She was slower, slept more, lost interest in playing ball, slept more, needed shorter, more frequent walks rather than the loooong ones we used to love. But she ate, played gently with Tucker, loved to ride in the car, got up...
