Re: Too late to socialize??

Good for you for saving the little guy! I am currently working on socializing my dog, I rescued him back in November and he is between 3 and 5 yrs (we just say 4 hehe). Anyhow, when I got him, he was very DA. With hard work and lots of patience, we can now walk him with females, he will ignore barki...

Re: Socialization question

Thanks. That was my first thought too, but was unsure if that was something later on to do (the event I think is in the fall). What sucks about being around here, there really is no place where people take their dogs. I for now have just been going for walks and having my sis and my friend come on w...

Socialization question

I was just sitting here thinking of training/socialization methods for Monty. I've been really working hard with him on socialization and not wanting to eat every little critter that goes by (cats, squirrels, birds etc). The squirrel thing is getting better, cats not so much (the neighborhood strays...

Re: self control

Haha! Yea, something about kids loving to share witht he dogs! lol Monty knows that if he sits close enough, she will give him something! Like you said, luckily he's gentle about it! He's actually so gentle and takes it so slow I had to teach my daughter not to shove it in his mouth! She'd try to pu...

Re: self control

Monty is doing pretty good! It took him some getting used to as far as not picking up food off the floor, or begging and such. I have a 2yo daughter that sometimes takes her plate of food over to a climber/slide she has to use it like a table, and occassionally drops her food but Monty now won't tou...

Re: i screwed up bad!!

Awe, glad you noticed. I would have never thought to check for that (i didn't know tires had steel) it never would have crossed my mind. My boy Monty has his canines warn down pretty far, and the front teeth in between his canines are warn down so they just barely poke out of his gums. Not sure how ...

Re: Escape Artist

I know a lot of guys are anti-neutering b/c they don't want to take away the dogs 'man hood". If he wants his boys to keep his, umm, boys lol I have heard of the chemical castration, or chemical neutering. (i'll put a link with some info, but you can also just do a search). That way, they can't...

Re: Transport ?

Thanks! I'll try it, though I'm getting a little disheartened as I've e-mailed the woman again 3 more times since this morning and now she's not getting back with me :( Hope its not to late for the poor thing

Re: Transport ?

Is there any rescues out that way that could maybe at least pull her? The woman I am in contact with told me that "Pilot for Paws" can fly her here, but I need help getting her pulled!

Re: Escape Artist

I'm going to have to agree on the neutering part. Definitely get him fixed! That will probably help with him not wanting to roam (as mentioned before). As far as peeing in the house, and if the Chi isn't fixed, they are just marking where each other use the bathroom. I also know of at least two inst...
