Do you have pictures, because you're confusing me (it's not a challenge)? Garion is still a youngerster, right? AB's can go through some truly grotesque and alarming growth stages. Are you saying that when he canters/gallops, he is throwing his right rear leg all over? Bear in mind that dogs are sid...

Loud and raspy breathing when hot can be palate. Kennel cough is just coughing, though I've seen dogs cough enough to puke, and I have seen it drag on for weeks on occasion, then antibiotics might be warranted. It is not usually any more serious than you or I getting a cold, except in very young pups.

Most kennel cough vaccines and intranasal stuff only lasts 6 months, and only protects from some of the numerous types of kennel coughs. Especially if she's not too symptomatic, I wouldn't want to see her on antibiotic. I have used kid's cough syrup a couple times. Are you concerned that the trainer...

Out of curiousity, how is your ab bred (performance/classic/hybrid, breeder, lines, etc.) There are a few lines where people have been very responsible about hips, but not many.

At 6 months, narrow hips could just be developmental, ab's don't grow very evenly. However, there is a high incidence of both hip and elbow dysplasia in ab's, as well as luxating patellas (knees), and cruciate tearing. Narrow hips can indicate less muscular development, resulting from poor hips, the...

Moto, did you find the source of Doc's giardia? We experienced it w/2 dogs we sent off to be trained, long ago. The trainer would send them back, we'd treat them, send them back to him, and repeat the cycle. We were never sure whether they were picking it up in our pond, at his kennel, or if they we...

You should try giving eye ointment to a horse. Xanny had to get eye drops when her face was paralyzed, to keep her eyes moistened. She was moderately uncooperative, but couldn't blink, so I could do it. Recently, I had something in my own eye, used some of her drops, and they burned like crazy. I fe...

Sometimes the vet will pull the baby teeth that haven't come out when they should. They can displace the adult teeth, so they don't come in to the proper position. It's not a major procedure.

Any repeated vomiting in a young pup is serious, and should be checked by a vet soon. They can dehydrate very quickly.

Moto, I almost never disagree w/you, but this time I agree w/ gf and elizer. Puppies should be lean. At 4 months, he's just starting to enter the fuglies, so he's going to look worse for a while rather than better.

I'm sorry your pup is ill. My homeopathic vet told me that in his opinion, vaccines are no big deal when your pet is doing well, but can be bad for them if they are not in good shape. His website, which has a lot of good info, is http://www.homevet.com . If it were not for him, I don't think Xanny w...

Xanny loves her Ruffwear coat. It has a fleece lining, and a cotton or nylon shell. It's a bit worn now, but she's had it 3 years or so. It doesn't cover her tummy though, but covers her chest and back nicely.

I'll defer to Jessa's knowledge here, but I can contribute some. If she is coming into heat soon, demo can flare up. Some females only have signs of demo during their heat cycle. Demo typically clears between8-10 months or so, as the immune system develops.

Just wanted to express my sympathy. You've gotten good advice. HD sucks. Do you know if the vet saw any arthritis, or changes in the joint?
