If your dog isn't hungry you're in trouble. When they are programmed to eat as much in one sitting as possible??....... when they stop eating you either have a very fat dog or a very sick dog. I can also guarantee it's very finnicky. Can't count the number of times I have had people complain about t...

Vin, I do have one hard rule that I never break. I don't ever feed pork. It's hard for them to digest and with the potential of trichinosis I don't even consider it. Since I don't feed anything cooked, especially bones, it's not an option ...............ever. jmann, That's great advice for a source ...

Ok Vin, First off.......No he's not to old to start. I started when one of my Boxers was 4 1/2, I had to feed raw due to her allergies. She took about a month to detox from all the poop in her system, it was intense! Her breath stunk, her stools, her body, she was oily, her hair was dry and brittle,...

Damien, He is liking the food alot. I wouldn't feed to demand, he will balloon in no time. Feeding guidelines are about 1/4 to 1/3 too much depending on the dog. A good filler is pureed veggies. No calories and a great source of vit. and minerals. They give the stomach something to work on. If you a...

My Pit eats Timberwolf(the best dry food available) Black Forest dry and a variety of raw stuff. She gets a half and half diet. She's doing better on the Timberwolf than any other food she has ever eaten. That includes Solid Gold, Wysong and Lamaderm. My Pug who is allergic to the world gets raw bee...

One word or warning here, I know this thread is a little old but I'm new and I'm trying to read back. DON'T use raw salmon! It has a fluke that if the dog gets one it causes severe liver damage. That and if you feed raw fish you must make sure it's deboned, they are so fine that they can cause probl...

I find the statement that high protein "blows out" the kidneys interesting. My dogs eat a 95% protein diet and I have had no kidney issues. They have eaten it for many years too. I would agree that crap foods that produce a "high protein" formula would do damage since they are 90% grain. God knows t...

I hope he's getting over what ever it is he's allergic to. That would be awesome. Food allergies tend to affect the front half of the body, or more specifically the head and front legs. Usually they scratch their face, nose and top of their head a lot, and chew their legs. Feet can indicate food too...

I would be very careful with fatty meat. Dogs don't require lots of fat, they can actually have trouble dealing with it. Pancreatitis is a concern. I feed BARF and have for a long time, I use lean meats only. They get fat on the bones they eat but otherwise I'm careful of how much they get.
