Re: How many think this is worth a laugh?

IMO now that this video has blown up so huge and some of the top names in canine behavior science like Patricia McConnell have commented on the clear stress signals the dog is giving and that it has nothing to do with "guilt", if the owners don't take that information, acknowledge it, and ...

Re: The Thundershirt

I give this product mixed reviews. It works great around the house and helps his anxiety whenever I turn on the stove. When he has it on inside he pretty much just lays around and sleeps. It also helps him be less whiney when I leave the house. He doesnt have separation anxiety but he does a path fr...

Re: Bone = Pacifier?

It is a good behavior, and is something I'd actually recommend someone teach if their dog gets overstimulated by people coming over, etc. It gives the dog something to do that is safe and not obnoxious, and prevents jumping up, mouthing, etc. Well I can't claim credit for teaching it to him...much ...

Bone = Pacifier?

For the past few months whenever Angel gets excited he's been picking up and carrying his bone in his mouth. This happens when people he knows come over, when the cats are running around playing (he gets very stimulated by this), and just generally anytime he gets highly stimulated or excited. Its a...

Re: The Thundershirt

OK so they shirts arrived today, they're very soft and seem to be well made. Despite how they look they are actually very easy to put on, very stretchy, and seem like they're pretty comfortable to have on. I couldn't wait so i put them on the dogs right away! Getting the shirt on Angel was a piece o...

Re: HA Potential? *video

I guess the reason why I thought she didn't need restraint was because she's fine with him in the house. I commented in your other thread but just read this and wanted to say that Angel had the same issue where he'd be introduced to a new man, was fine in the house, even acting friendly and playing...

Re: My Meeting With Val (Red) (:

Angel went through a phase from about 4 to 10m where he was afraid of men and would act almost exactly like Hailey did (in the video from your other thread) except he would get closer and not back off as much. Through positive reinforcement he is much much better although he still has to be properly...

Anyone use DAP regularly?

I'm a huge fan of DAP (dog appeasing pheromone) and use it regularly with my dogs. I like to spray it onto a bandanna and wrap it around their neck before a walk or when visitors come over since Angel can have some mild anxiety around new men and Lila, although much improved, is just in general an a...

The Thundershirt

I just ordered two of these for Lila and Angel. Lila, since although much better over the last few years is still overall a very anxious dog. And Angel since he has shown some reactivity to strange dogs since maturing. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this product. I just ordered it...

Re: bad breath

If I dont brush Angels teeth, gums, and tounge everyday he has horrible foul breath. He has healthy gums, no tartar, and the vet said a dental isnt needed so I have no idea why he gets that god awful smell. In addition to doggie toothpaste I rinse his gumline with Nolvadent Oral Cleansing Solution t...

Re: Degenerative Disc Disease

Ty guys for the advice. I spoke with my vet regarding surgery and she prefers for it to be a last resort type of thing. She said Lila has a moderate case of the disease so she would put off surgery for now. I asked her about acupuncture and she was very enthusiastic about it and gave me a referral a...

Degenerative Disc Disease

Last Friday while coming down the stairs Lila stopped midway and yelped in pain. She refused to come down the stairs for about 10 minutes and wouldnt let me touch her. Then she started walking funny, like she was drunk, and her hind legs kept slipping underneath her. I thought she pulled a muscle or...

Re: Pack Issues

What Amie said! Having a bad recall doesn't mean your gf isnt the leader of her dog. There is no doubt my dogs are babied, they are allowed on the beds and couches, basically get whatever they want as long as they behave and they are in no way the boss of me. I did have to work with my old dog befor...
