I also wonder why his colon problems started the day he came home from having pancreatitis? Makes no sense to me. He had several weeks after with blood and little mucous. Then a full 3 weeks without. Now it is back again. Seems weird. He doesn't have urgency, frequency, constipation, diarrhea, none ...

Well, we met with the vet yesterday for about 1/2 hour or more. She gave us copies of all his workups. She said it is a VERY good sign that he is drinking less and he has been drinking normal since the metronidazole was given to him. She said it may have been Giardia, but she thought that other anim...

Well, he had pancreatitis since his amylase was off the chart. His symptoms were bloody poop, dripping blood and he vomited once. When they suspect pancreatitis it is important to withhold ALL food which is why it is important to know what is going on. I am very glad to hear you pup is doing better!!

Thank all so much... It is hard to talk about my worries with many other people b/c they think it is just a dog, you know? My husband Kyle and I seriously considering NOT having children, b/c we feel satisfied with just having our dogs... sounds strange to most people, but I am 35 now and I am happy...

That is strange. My dog had the EXACT same symptoms and was given a test immediately that showed off the chart amylase. I wonder why they didn't do that with Gwen. :huh?:

Yes, I am looking at it right now. One of my good friends is graduating TODAY from vet school, but I decided to let her enjoy it without all the questions... she is always helpful.. He was on Cefazolin, Primor 1200mg---those are all that are listed on the invoice. Also, after about 3 doses of the me...

I just wonder why the thirst started a day or so after he came back from the hospital with pancreatitis. Isn't that weird? Could a drug they gave him there have done kidney damage if he was sensitive to it? I wouldn't blame them I am just trying to figure this out. I feel like the pancreatitis happe...

Dozer is just about 4 years old. I estimate his birthday to be in April. I got him when he was 19 months. Today I was listening to Allison Krauss and just lost it. I was sitting on the floor crying and he didn't know what was going on so, he sat on my lap. I just was hysterical which I am going to h...

I am wondering if we should just keep an eye on his profile--do another in a few months--before we start the fluid under the skin thing. She doesn't recommend a special kidney diet, due to his bowel problem. thanks for giving me some hope. It is good to know that dogs can live happily with this. How...

Vet thinks Dozer is in early kidney failure

Well, Dozer's test came back. His eosinophils are elevated and she thinks that is indicative of inflammatory bowel disease. I agree with this since the last time he had an issue it was after he had popcorn kernels. But... after a Urine test and the Low Specific Gravity and in combination with the bl...

I save alot of money on http://www.vetshoponline.com. I just bought a six month supply of flea/tick for cats and six month for the dogs for 97.00. It was over 20 dollars cheaper than 800PetMeds and about 30 dollars cheaper than from the vet. I also buy heartworm preventative from them. you can get a...
