Re: Is my dog fat?

he looks a little chubby, but not as bad as some i have seen. i think if you cut back a little on his food, and do some intense exersize with him, he will shape up rather quickly. work up to intense work if he is not used to it. my dogs like swimming, flirtpole and springpole in the summer. in winte...

Re: hyper new pup - very mouthy - Please Help

they are a great toy. maybe your dog would like one, and i think she will burn up a lot of extra energy, maybe helping with her humping problem.

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

i am on the fence about cropping ears, i have 2 cropped and 4 natural eared pit bulls. i love them all. the 2 that were cropped did not act any different as pups than the uncropped ones, they were all holy terrors! the youngest dog i have that is cropped is 5 yrs, so i have not had any cropped in th...

Re: Barking on the spring pole

man oh man! some of my dogs are so obnoxious on it! angel (in avatar) makes the most gawd-awful noises while playing, it almost embarrases me. i like the idea of it in the basement. i actually have a huge beam in the middle of my cabin's livingroom, i have thought of hooking one up in here for winte...

Re: hyper new pup - very mouthy - Please Help

others have given good advice about the mouthing. i just want to comment on the "hung by her neck to strengthen her jaws" that the spca told you. what they were probably refering to is a springpole, which is a very common exersize tool, even for pet dog owners. most of my dogs LOVE to play...

Re: questions about spaying and avatars

spaying before the first heat is best. i have actually experienced the opposite, amelie was spayed as soon as she started to show her first sigs of her first heat. she does not hump other dogs, nor does she lift her leg. her mother on the other hand was spayed at three years after she had amelie, an...

Re: potty training

not every dog is the same. this puppy is not "stupid" or "not as smart as your last". some children go in the toilet at a year old, others take until 3 years. you just have to be patient, and do not "compare" him to your other. i have 2 puppies at the moment (5 month AP...

Re: Hello & pit with cat question

i have 3 cats and 6 pit bulls, they all get along well. the cats will let the dogs know with a stern look, followed by a swat on the nose if the dogs are pestering them too much. i have to comment on the "being hung to strengthen the jaws" what the dog was doing is refered to as a spring p...

i hear it a lot. i always come back with "you can see my ribs too, but i don't hear anyone complaining" my dogs are are not really thin, just not fat like a lot of pet dogs.

was she in heat when she was spayed? we had a female sled dog spayed while in heat and the boys wouldn't leave her alone for days. also it could be a urinary tract infection. maybe take her back to the vet to have her checked?

all i see is rice, rice, rice. might as well just buy a big bag of rice and cook it up, add a tiny bit of lamb, and a bit of chicken fat. (not really suggesting that, just making a point) i am sure nutro is not cheap either, even though rice is not an expensive ingredient. with the lamb being listed...

i am sure turkey is great for them, if they like it and do not have any allergies to poultry. i pick up turkey necks/drumsticks whenever they are on sale. my dogs eat a raw diet all summer/fall, then i go back to kibble in the winter with an occasional raw snack. they are used to eating everything f...

it could have been bound to happen with him, neutered or not. i guess you will never know. i had an adult female spayed about 6 months ago, and as soon as ahe was feeling better, she started humping. she humps the boys, the other spayed female, even tries to hump the cats. i think it was just the ch...
