Re: 2 month old Nipsey pooping blood HELP

Your vet should check him for worms. Hook worms can cause blood in their poop. Is it fresh bright red blood or dark blackish tarry looking blood? Fresh bright red blood in the poop usually means some sort of irritation at the end of the digestive tract, i.e. worms, the dark tarry looking blood is pa...

Re: Questions

Poor pup! It looks like a form of rickets and/or a vitamin D deficiency. He is young so this can be corrected with supplements like cod liver oil and good food and sunlight but he does need to see a vet. You should take him as soon as possible so you know exactly what to give him to help cure this a...

Re: Gentle collar for a senstive neck

A company called Weaver makes a very nice leather collar with a deerskin lining. Those are good strong buckle collars and the lining makes it very soft on the dog's neck. I always like using a leather collar as it is a natural material. A deerskin lining is very nice and would be non irritating on a...

Re: SAM-e - anyone giving it to their dogs?

I’ve not been on line much, so I just saw this… My dog has been on the SAMe (denosyl) for over a year now. She is on it because her liver numbers were scary high last year, something like 1900 when they should have been about 120. It has worked very well for lowering her liver numbers, it was gradua...

RECALL on Natura foods – Innova, EVO, etc.

As of March 18th, there is a recall on some of the Natura pet foods -- EVO, Innova, CA Naturals, and Healthwise. Apparently a batch of these foods is contaminated with Salmonella bacteria which could affect people and pets. Here are some links about it – http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-recall...

Re: APBT books for sale (and magazines)

How did you like that Colby book? Seemed like it has good conditioning info. Does he discuss any discipline/obedience training? I have only read a sample from the kindle version. It's been awhile since I read that book but it is more of a history book than a training book. From what I remember I do...

Re: Lyme disease and liver problems

We are just home from our trip and I took Fremiet to get her blood work done to see how her liver is. Good News! Her tests came back showing a lowered ALT of 690 and her ALP was 240. Still on the high side but much better than the ALT of 1900 earlier this fall. She is on the Denosyl and will probabl...

Re: Looking for a New collar

For a pup, you might want to just get a 2 ply nylon buckle collar from your local pet store as pups will out grow their collars pretty quickly. There are some nice 2 ply leather collars on ebay too so that is a good place to look for other collars -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/110867914956" onclick="wi...

Question about dosage for Tramadol?

My old dog was given a prescription for Tramadol for pain, the dosage is a 50 mg pill once or twice a day. A friend of mine also has a prescription for Tramadol, also 50 mg pills and his dose is 1 pill every 4 to 6 hours. Now this is a 200 pound man and my dog is 50 pounds... So is the dog's dosage ...

Re: Wiggy has Cancer

What a sweet girl! I am sorry to hear about her cancer. But she has had such a good long life with your family, she is lucky there as so many dogs don't have a long happy life. Good luck and I hope she feels better. But if she can't recover, please take time to think about her quality of life and do...

Re: Lyme disease and liver problems

Thanks for asking. She is feeling better so that is a good sign. I am making some changes to her diet and hoping this is something that can be managed.
