Lyme disease and liver problems

I recently had my old dog at the vets and they found she has Lyme disease and that her liver is not functioning properly. She was on Doxycycline 100 mg tabs 2x a day for the Lyme for 28 days, which sounds about right. Poor old dog was limping badly but seems better now. Anyone have experience with L...

Am Veterinary Med Assn ruling against Raw Pet Foods

This was posted elsewhere and I feel it is important to get this info out since I did not see it on here. What a bunch of BS for them to consider ruling against feeding raw foods... We seem to lose more and more of our freedoms these days. Certainly it should be the owner's choice as to what they ca...

Re: Pancreatitis

The nurses are afraid of him, would prefer to treat at home. When I went to pick him up Saturday, he was loose in the ICU area, after getting out of the metal crate and taking off his muzzle. They would not touch him, and yet when it was time to take him to me for the release, the vet tech walked h...

Re: Buddy Girl needs some good thoughts.

Ohhh poor old girl! I had not read this in a few days, it's been a rough week for her and you too.

It is so hard to see them hurting and miserable. I hope she is feeling much better today. Good thoughts sent.

Re: Buddy Girl needs some good thoughts.

Awww poor girly, I hope she is feeling better. Getting old sucks! My old gal is sore with arthritis and limps from all corners.

Did you try a heating pad if she will lie on it? That often helps with the soreness.

Re: Raw Food for $1.28 a pound in the Southeast US

I started with the 80% muscle meat, 10% organ, 10% bone structure, so 20% is a lot of bone! Heart is usually considered a muscle meat. I adjust based on poop - too hard or pale>> more organ; too soft or dark>> more bone. Thanks! That is very helpful. There is so much conflicting info out there on r...

Re: Raw Food for $1.28 a pound in the Southeast US

Oooo, thanks for the feedback! Yes, I also noticed that this food seems to be just meat and bone ground. Which is good but I agree, that is not really a complete diet. Interesting about the ratio of bone to meat being 20%, is that too high? It does not sound excessively high but I don't know that mu...

Raw Food for $1.28 a pound in the Southeast US

I happened into my local pet food store today and they had a new case with frozen raw for dogs and cats. I have been feeding raw for some time and have been keeping an eye out for quality raw dog foods at a reasonable price. Well, this new raw food comes in a frozen tube or chub, most of them are $2...
