We are feeding raw and kibble, the raw meaty bones in the morning and kibble at night. For raw veggies, we've been dicing up very fine whatever we have ourselves for dinner. Such as a small piece of carrot or broccoli, it's cut up very fine and I just put it in with her kibble. We have mostly brocco...

Quote: "According to world renowned dog behaviorist Lee MAnnix(http://www.lmccb.com) through his studies he's found links between certain ingredients in dog food and behavior problems in dogs. Other things to avoid were corn, wheat, soy, sugar, and dyes. By changing the dogs diets he was able to eli...

Here is a good article about prong collars: http://www.flyingdogpress.com/prong.html They really are a useful training tool, I use one on her when we go to the bank since she loves all the tellers and they give her treats. If I have her on the flat collar she pulls like crazy, but not on the prong. ...

There are tons of dog books out on the market these days. I have read a few of the "positive training" books and I would recommend "Don't Shoot the Dog" by Karen Pryor, I have not read all of it but what I've read was good and made sense. Another dog book I found useful was Suzanne Clothier's "Bones...

Having trouble breathing and a slight cough can be a sign of heartworms. You might have her tested for those, it's a simple blood test done by the vet.

Well, I would not feed raw pork due to the risk of trichinosis. But you can freeze the raw pork for a length of time which is supposed to kill the parasite. Here are some links on it: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dpd/parasites/trichinosis/factsht_trichinosis.htm http://doityourself.com/diet/trichinosis...

I'd be careful using the EVO straight as a regular diet. I thought about it when it first came out but I did not like the 42% protein, that can't be healthy unless the dog is getting a huge amount of exercise. I've been feeding Innova and CA Natural mixed half & half for the evening meal and raw...

You might pick up a can of cooked salmon, that would tempt most dogs to eat, mix a small amount with a little cooked rice and offer it to him slightly warm, not cold. Small portions are best. The baby food is a great idea, too.

You might try giving him some of that "pedialite" stuff for babies. You can get it at any drug store or grocery store. I keep some on hand for dogs which have bad diarrhea and/or vomiting. It helps keep them hydrated, it's what they give babies for the same thing. I get the un-colored and un-flavore...

Glad Rufus is ok. Those emergency vets sure charge thru the nose, though... Ouch! From what I understand, bile is produced by the bile gland in the stomach and it is supposed to be the body's reaction to being poisoned. The bile makes a person or dog vomit, thus getting rid of the possible poisons. ...

Well, if that Pet Supplies Plus is near her, why not have her try the Canidae?

I would not go to a "lite" food, just the regular "all life stages" one. The "lite" foods are full of fillers, just use a good quality regular dog food and feed less if it's an older dog.

I can get Canidae locally for $30 for a 40 pound bag, that seems a pretty good price to me. Maybe she can find it for the same price? This was at a chain called "Pet Supplies Plus".

Well, one thing I do to save a bit on dog food is I buy bags with holes in them. The pet food distributor near me sells a huge volume of good quality dog food and they tend to be a bit rough on the bags when they unload it. So they often have bags with small holes that they tape up and sell for a lo...
