Re: Sadie isn't well

It can be so hard to be a good owner with dogs like these we have. Because they don't show their pain like a "normal" dog, we have to be so attuned to know when something is wrong. And then we have to advocate for them at the vet, because the vet will always assume that your "normal&q...

Re: Boys!

Yeah, my Elmo was neutered at 4 (when I adopted him), and he tied Tully once when she was in season. Adolescent boy behavior sounds typical. Some are worse than others, Conway sounds a bit more so than many, but still well within normal range. And I wouldn't necessarily count on it being over by the...

Re: What type of dog food/diet do you feed your dogs?

I use Acana (Pacifica and Grasslands during the year, Light&Fit during the winter) for Brina and she does great on it. For Jaka and my mom's dogs we just found a newly imported food Dog Lovers Gold and so far they are doing awesome on it. :) The Dog Lovers Gold is a good food. Mine were on that...

Re: The lure coursing experience

lol "Tessmanian Devil", I like that! Yeah, she's got a lot of energy. On this day, this was the first thing she got to do. Then we went in and had 2 agility runs. Then we came out and she got to lure course again. She thought it was great.

Re: Pi's OFA X-rays

No, they are different rankings. Elbows are either normal or dysplastic (dysplastic would have different grades). Hips have more than one ranking for normal, so they can be Excellent, Good, Fair (all of those are normal ratings), Borderline (they aren't sure), Mild, Moderate, or Severe (all of those...

Re: Kirkland dog food/heads up

I totally agree, however, does your dogs poop have a strange (all-be-it faint) chemical smell?? Denis thinks I'm nuts but it makes me gag and none of the other feeds bother me. I think we're going to try their Turkey variety next (I always keep kibble on hand to use here and there) and see if it's ...

Re: Kirkland dog food/heads up

I want to add that this is Tess a couple months into the Nature's Domain (from TOTW):

My feeling is that as long as my dog looks like that, the food is probably okay for her.

Re: Kirkland dog food/heads up

I too know many a dog doing/did great on Pedigree and junk can foods. I got one 4 pound bag of puppy food and 15 cans of tripe and other meat can foods at the holistic dog food store on Sat, bill was $84.00, no treats, not one chew or toy. I went to another store for the chews and treats and spent ...

Re: Any experience with Nature's Domain dog food?

Well - I got a bag today. Our Costco finally just started carrying it since our last trip a month ago! I've been writing in to Costco's 'suggestion box' for months trying to get them to pick up a grain free kibble! I'm curious to see what poop changes there will be since I'm switching over from Kir...

As long as you increase distances gradually, she should be fine.

Re: Kirkland dog food/heads up

I feel better feeding better, I feel less paranoid, but honestly if their poop didn't smell so chemically on Natures Domain (Kirkland grain free - TOTW rebagged) I would probably still feed that. I switched mine to the Natures Domain recently from TOTW, and fortunately for me, they're doing well on...
