Re: The Cost of Feeding Raw?

Yes, carb load has a lot to do with it, as does natural body chemistry. Size of teeth, size of the dog's mouth, length of hair, breed... there are a lot of factors. And yes, diet can be one of them. But as I said, my kibble fed dogs don't require teeth cleanings, so you cannot assume that a dog doe...

My kibble fed dogs don't need teeth cleanings either. There are a lot of variables to whether/how often a dog needs it's teeth cleaned.

Yes, the smell is somewhat normal, especially if you have her wearing pants to contain the mess.

Re: Tucker doesn't like kibble ...

Maybe bland is what he needs? Occasionally, dogs do crave what is good for them. I had a friend who switched her dogs to raw, and had one that wouldn't eat it. She waited the dog out until it ate, and the dog got massively sick off of it. She knew it wasn't good for her. (I think my friend did event...

I'm no good at elbows. The vet thought they were okay, now it's up to the OFA.

Re: Eva hip X-ray

Ooh just reading this now. Old lady Buddy has the same thing caused by a bone spur. The ONLY thing that worked for her was the steroid injection. (we had tried metacam, tramadol and gabapentin, acupuncture, hydrotherapy and chiro). I'm glad Eva is doing better. It can be a hugely frustrating condit...

She's doing really well, her owner is getting hopeful again. Still working on her rehab, but so far it seems like it might be working.

Re: HELP.. Itchy Hairless spots..

She needs to see a vet. One of the many possible causes of something like that is ringworm, which is transferable to you, so it needs to be ruled out.

Allergies would be fairly low on my list of possible causes. Not impossible, but the neck isn't where I'd expect those to first pop up.

Re: My boy diagnosed with Lymphoma

If this was my dog, this is what I would do. I would take the day off and let her snuggle on the couch with me all day. I'd go to mcdonalds and get her her own happy meal and ice cream cone. I would sing her a silly bedtime song and sleep with my arms wrapped tight around her. I would thank her fir...

Puppies in particular tend to sit that way. I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Pros/Cons for spaying 8 yr old?

I got quoted between $425-$475 to spay Soleil, including the pre-surgical bloodwork. I'm thinking it might have been closer to $500 for Tess' spay. I blocked it out, it cost so much. I wanted to go to my usual vet, though, because it wasn't too long after Tess' kidney infection (about 4 months), an...

Re: Pros/Cons for spaying 8 yr old?

Well, the vets I mostly see are not the same ones that spayed Tully. Tully was spayed at a different practice, where I went to get repro work done. They are much more affordable, but also more old school. Last year I had Tess spayed at my usual vets, but she didn't need teeth cleaned, so I didn't ev...
