Re: Tick bacteria targets pit bull terriers

Its definitely a tick borne issue but there is also a ton of evidence supporting transmission through dog fights. That is why it is in the greyhound and APBT population. They are not necessarily more susceptible, just more likely to be put in a position to contract it from dog bites. It is more prev...

Re: Hip surgery AGAIN, need experiences please

Thanks for all all input. So had our appointment last Friday and it went ok I guess. So I found out the surgery Kal had a year ago was essentially a waste. The specialists dislike the procedure and now its too late to do the correct procedure since there is extensive remodeling and arthritis. So wha...

Re: Hip surgery AGAIN, need experiences please

Thanks for the insight. I guess my problem is that Kal will not be happy unless she has a job and is always flying off something or running full tilt. I guess what I mean is that she still is going to have to do the work I just dont care if she is good.....make sense? All I keep hearing is that you ...

Hip surgery AGAIN, need experiences please

I am needing some feedback on what others have done and what their experiences have been. Kal is really an orthopedic mess. Left hip has only about 10% coverage and a grade 3 patella on her right and grade 2 on the left knee. We did a deinervation on her left hip over a year ago. We are having some ...

Re: St. Louis, MO area rescue???

I dont know of anyone in the area that is in a position to take on owner surrenders. I know that any one of us would be happy to help list and screen people but as we all know it is not a quick fix. It is taking well over a year to place dogs around here right now. I personally dont agree with a lot...

Re: To Advantix or not to Advantix?

We have been having success with Trifexis (heartworm, internal parasite, flea preventative) Clients have liked it since it is not a topical but you have to be in an area that doesnt have ticks as it only prevents ticks for 2 wks. I would try that as you seem to have had nothing but troubles since mo...

Re: Heart Murmur?

It all depends on so many things when it comes to cardiology. Unfortunately I have had more then my fill in this as my 5yr is a grade 4 and has DCM and AS. Yes, heart conditions are a problem in this breed. If you are able to swing it, I HIGHY recommend an ultrasound with the cardiologist. Most like...

Re: Blockage?

Been through 3 of them in 18 mos........... If she is not vomiting and is having normal stools, she is not blocked. Every time Newt has puked in his life he is blocked. Dogs normally get very lethargic and start to refuse food and are sensitive when you palpitate. If she is hunched over, a lot of ti...

Re: Urine Burn on dog's body

My Boz has the same spot. In his case it isnt urine scalding at all, it is part of his food allergies and him licking that spot. It can be seasonal and his food allergies combined.

I use DOUXO pads down there and make sure he doesnt get anything off his food list.
