This story in USA Today is one of the first ones that really explained in layman's terms why the cats seemed to get so much sicker than the dogs....I have cats, but never really knew about their propensity for kidney issues. Lucky I guess...but why, why in the world, is tainted food still being sold...

This was an inteview on http://www.petconnection.com - just one vet's perspective on this - but really frightening is the story of Scooby - this cat died from the cross-contamination food which I don't think people are taking seriously enough. Dr. Louise Murray, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM, the Director of...

Oh yeah, almost forgot all about the original OP....I kinda picked up from Mommy2Kane who was asking more about the ecollars and went from there. Using one of these as punishment would be a big no no. I wish they wouldn't just sell them off the shelves, do-it-yourself without guidance from someone k...

Not sure if that was for me, but that's why I paid for professional instruction - so that I could know what I was doing. Here is a testimonial from a reputable pit bull group who used Fred for one of their "hopeless" cases. I just think people should keep an open mind - I've seen lots of p...

Hmmmmm. Turns out the Feds aren’t so sure about that “no risk” chicken after all. The new number for the day: 20 million. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18496438/ 20 million chickens may have eaten tainted feed Poultry must be assessed by government before it’s processed, USDA says Updated: 8:32 p.m. P...

Fred Hansen is the guy who developed the sitmeanssit training method - so yes, you're right about that. I don't know why they put on on the dogs back, but it would be a good question to post on the sitmeanssit forum so I'll do that. Tim Smith runs the No Calif branch, they have trainers in almost ev...

I hate the use of the term shock collar, but yes, I use ecollar training (Dogtra 200) on my pit bull and it has worked wonders on her. I am also not doing this on my own, I have a very very experienced trainer, Tim Smith from http://www.sitmeanssit.com dog training. His dog, Moose (a Mal), won the 2...

about time the mainstream press is finally starting to report the more accurate version of the number of dead pets from this food. Although it's looking like the number will climb significantly.... From Abigail Goodman and Don Lee at the LA Times, with the headline “Reports say pet food death toll e...

I fed it a couple years ago until I adopted our Pit bull, who had kennel-stress demodex. A nutritionist asked me to switch foods and do some other supplements (can of mackrel a week) so we moved all dogs to Flint River (yes, it has grains, but every single ingredient is U.S. so I'm not moving anywhe...

I guess that's what this blog is about - I just posted this in the Press, maybe it should have gone here. This guy was debating the ban on his radio show and then blogged about it afterward with very good support for pit bulls. For an ultra-conservative, it's someone you might want on your side? htt...

The recall has been expanded....cross-contamination now. First and foremost, we have more recalls. From the PetSmart Web site: Update as of May 2, 2007 Menu Foods has expanded its recall as a result of the ongoing investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration into wet cat and dog food produ...

This is a great article in SF Gate - http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2007/05/01/petscol.DTL There was a time when dog owners stood in groups at the dog park or debated on e-mail lists arguing about the relative merits of different brands of pet food or the benefits and drawbacks of home...
