Re: Heat stroke...

I don't want to be a jerk here, but Misskiwi lost her dog in a tragic accident which she feels AWFUL about, and people are arguing about how bad it is to keep a dog shut in a car. I think it's a little tacky, to say the least, and I think it's a little...mean. We all know that it's not good to leave...

Re: Heat stroke...

oh god, I am sooooo sorry, Misskiwi. I, too, believe there was probably some underlying health issue aside and separate from being left in the car. And I wonder if she would have been ok in the car if not for that issue. Whatever it was, we all KNOW you loved her, and we all KNOW you didn't mean for...

Re: Pasterns

Ophie's-face-humpin' !? He humps Ophie's face. What happens is, she is shorter/smaller than he is, so she gets under him to bite his legs and his...wiener. When this happens, I do not allow it to go on. But they get into the position so fast, that I don't always catch it fast enough.

Re: Pasterns

I think he's just a dopey puppy. Believe me, low pasterns are probably the least of my worries with his squirrel-chasin'-chocolate-cake-gettin'-into-counter-surfin'-Ophie's-face-humpin'-crate-whining-empty-box-scared-of-neighbor's-dog-chasing-running-along-the-fence-getting-into-mud-self. Re: Pasterns

I wanted to add: Bad pasterns drive me NUTS. Not that I have experience with what that means, but it's a total eye sore for me to look at. And sorry to anyone whose dog might have bad pasterns! I don't mean to offend anyone, believe me, Luke's are imperfect enough that I started this thread.

Re: Pasterns

Well, I'm not sure how bad. I'll have to look next time he is standing. Part of me is hoping that it's because he's a 7 month old, long-legged, lanky, awkward-looking puppy still and that he'll grow and they'll straighten/tighten up. I'll try to get a pic of it. And maybe they aren't as bad as I'm t...

Pasterns

Ok, so I know that puppies are still growing, so maybe that is why Luke has sloppy looking pasterns? I am not going to concern myself with them for now because he IS still growing, but I hope they tighten up as he matures into an adult. Ophie's are a hair low/down, but not as low as Luke's. If they ...

Re: After spay?

Ophie's exterior incision will be glued shut, but she'll have dissolvable stitches on the inside. No heavy activity for 10 days. Ophie's easy to keep calm unless Luke is around. Then she wants to play, play, PLAY. Oh, and she's a jumper when she gets excited. And I don't mean a jumper on people. I m...

Re: K9 Advantix or Frontline Plus?

If the grass in your area is deeper than ankle deep and you have wildlife... there is potential for tick exposure. Is it safe to use a product like Sentinel AND Frontline for ticks at the same time? Or do you think that would be too big a chemical dose each month? Yes, it's safe. My vet suggested t...

Re: Oral Papillomas - pics included

That first one is so...ew...it looks like she has some kind of sea creature growing in her mouth. Yet I cannot stop looking at it. But, ACK.

Poor baby!

Re: K9 Advantix or Frontline Plus?

Well, we're not in a heavy wooded area at all, but right outside of my neighborhood is a wooded walk path area. I just assumed that where there are lots of trees, there would be lots of ticks. But a huge tick infestation near where my dogs are typically walked? No. Not at all. :)) They're walked in ...

Re: K9 Advantix or Frontline Plus?

Well, I think I am going to go with Frontline Plus since I can get it readily from my vet. If it doesn't work (sucks that I'd have to find out by finding ticks on them), then I'll try the advantix or possibly check out the link Proudmommy linked to. I'm only really worried about ticks. Fleas are not...

Re: After spay?

If I were you I'd forgo the cone and get the big blue inflatable donut. It is surprisingly sturdy and dual layered. Our Flower ALSO got the big bump under the incision area, but it was just irritation and after warm compresses it went away. I would be cautious about leaving her alone with the other...

Re: K9 Advantix or Frontline Plus?

I would have no problem alternating months with Frontline Plus and K9 Advantix, BUT, my vet doesn't carry K9 Advantix, and if I pay for one, I don't know that I want to alternate months. As puppies, we were intending on simply taking them to the vet once a month and picking up their anti-bug meds be...

Re: K9 Advantix or Frontline Plus?

Well, crap. I already give them Sentinel, and as both are flea-free, I'm not worried too much about an infestation. I'm more worried about the OTHER bugs that can get them that Sentinel doesn't cover (like ticks). So, I guess I should have specified that I'm not too concerned about fleas, but I want...
