Re: Kibble help

Acana sounds great--except for one major concern. The prairie variety has walleye ("caught-wild from cold northern lakes in Canada") as one of its major protein sources. This is a BAD idea. Walleye is a large predatorial fish, high in mercury, and Canada has a fish advisory warning out on...

Re: Kibble help

oooh, and remember, most places that sell the higher grade kibbles, will keep samples on hand.
So, you could get Princess Veronica ( ;) ) some samples to see which food she likes best.

Re: Kibble help

Luke and Ophie are both being fed Fromm's Puppy Gold Large Breed as of right now, but Fromm's has other formulas that are nice and not grain-free. I've heard a lot of people rave about Fromm's, and both Luke and Ophie only poop twice a day on it. But, I'm kind of opposite from you in the grain-free ...

Re: Puppy Hiccups

Ophie is about 3 1/2-4 months old and gets the hiccups AT LEAST twice a day.
We were worried a little at first, but our vet assured us they are extremely common in puppies.
I think it's cute.
She sometimes gets them after eating or when she's tired.

Re: black and tan dogs

Labs can come in brindle pointed and black and tan and while it is highly discouraged, it does happen. I have a whole litter of brindle and (red) tri-color (like a baby labby Booker!) lab puppies at my shelter right now -- would those help at all? The problem is they're still at that age where they...

Re: It's Lymphoma Large Cell Type.

What do I do with this empty house when my kids are gone and Ben is at work? Sure, I have my geckos, my tortoise, and my mice. But my shadow is gone. The thing that helps assure me that we made the right decision (besides the other factors), is that I had this silly song I used to sing to Ella (this...

Re: It's Lymphoma Large Cell Type.

oh god. ImissherimissherimissherIMISSHER. This hurts soooo bad. Am I ever NOT going to hurt? Am I ever not going to wake up at 3 am and sob uncontrollably for an hour? I feel like someone ran me over with a mack truck 8237849 times, and is sucking my soul out of me. My throat hurts from crying so mu...

Re: It's Lymphoma Large Cell Type.

I want to thank everyone for the PMs, emails, and facebook messages. Please forgive me if I do not reply to each one individually, it's not that I do not appreciate them, I do. But I am grieving so badly, and I have this overwhelming sadness that I don't know is ever going to go away. We let Ella go...

Re: It's Lymphoma Large Cell Type.

After many tears and fits of RAGE, we are letting Ella go this morning. This is NOT a decision we have made without thought. It is a decision we HAVE TO make. It hurts us to see her suffer. She cannot play ball, she cannot be happy. She cannot climb the damn stairs to get back into the house. She ca...

Re: It's Lymphoma Large Cell Type.

I am so sad. She is suffering, guys. I have been in denial about it. I had her sleep in bed with me last night, which she has done before, and LOVES to do, but she could NOT get comfortable last night. She does these jerky motions with her head and her limbs. They're small and quick, it's like if yo...

It's Lymphoma Large Cell Type.

That was the bomb that hit us this morning in the vet's office. I am so broken right now, and faced with decisions that I have to make, but do not even think I can muster up the brain power or focus, to make right now. She's nauseous because of the lymphoma. And the prognosis is NOT good. Because it...

Re: Lymph Node removal post-op condition questions

Thank you! I am boiling some ground turkey patties for her right now, and I'm going to steam some rice for her. She DID lick up some remaining oatmeal I had in my bowl, so I'm wondering if it just pains her to have to chew right now? Maybe even though the surgery is on the lower part of her neck, th...
