Topic: What do you spend on Dog Food per MO.?

For two dogs, 1-30(?) pound bag of Taste of the Wild runs me about 37-ish. I'm buying food every 6-7 weeks. Depending on what kind of mood I am in when I go shopping, I usually pick up 5-7 cans of food, usually Merrick or EVO and with as little as they sometimes get, it makes the cans last a bit. An...

Welcome! :hi

Could you tell us a little more about yourself? Have any APBT/mixes? What got you into the breed?

The welcome wagon loves pictures!

My two are on a basically kibble-only diet. They like the food so much I dont have to add anything to it. Though I will add an occasional spoonful or two of canned food. A lot of the time, I will add warm water and let it sit for a second and not add anything else. At the small point in time when I ...

How long were you feeding the previous food? The longer you fed a food before switching means the longer a new food will take before you achieve full results. You should start to see improvements soon but it can take up to 8 weeks. Of course, all dependent on how long the previous food was fed. Hypo...

From what I understand it's not so much how much calcium is in the food, but moreso the ratio between the calcuim and the phosphorous.

I am unsure of the exact ratio. Perhaps MissKiwi knows?

Snoopy used to have something identical to this. I couldnt figure out what it was. I had 2 scrapings done at totally different times, at different vets, they looked for both sarcoptes and demo, found nothing. We did a fungal scrape. Nothing. No worms, he was perfectly fine. I did a couple food chang...

The thing is, though, that even though the excess protein isn't damaging the dog's kidneys, if the dog isn't highly active, you don't need all that protein. So you are probably spending money on more protein that is just going to get excreted as waste. I agree. My dogs are really active and use the...

I am with becca. I dont add water the point where it's soup but just enough so there's fluid movement within the dish. Sometimes i let it sit for no more than a couple minutes just to give the water a chance to cool down.

First, this will likely be moved to health. You'll get better responses in there.

Second, what kind of kibble are you currently feeding? How much are you feeding and how often?

I was paying attn to the Blue Buffalo recalls....the SAME products are being recalled due to a similar problem. Last year it was rice protein concentrate and now rice gluten. It says the pages are updated as of jan 2008, but the recall seems very similar to the giant one of last year. And if THAT ma...

I've never had to deal with ant bites. Maybe try benadryl? I forget how much to give. I think 1mg/lbs body weight? (Do a search just to make sure before you dispense) You might be able to try hydrocortisone cream if she wont lick it off. Keep an eye on it, if it gets worse, most definitely make a ve...

If Jake is relatively active and burns off the calories he takes in he should be fine. Since it is winter and it's hard to be active in the winter (especially in the winter hell that is Detroit....or SLC lol) just add some water to the food so it's not dry protein. It's not as harsh to the body and...

Are you still using Evo Snoops? At this exact moment I am feeding Blue Buffalo puppy because I had hit a really rough patch financially and had to take what I could get. When I finish with this bag of BB, I will put him back on EVO. I've had really good luck with EVO, he looks the best on that than...
