Hi Salival ~ not from Phoenix. Still looking. BTW, what's wrong with a behaviorist who has a Ph D in Animal Behavior? I don't like the PHDers mentality or education. They seem to have read texts, or papers but don't have any true experience whatsoever. Not only that but they are always too quick to...

Looking for a Good behaviorist, Phoenix AZ

I need to send someone to a good behaviorist in AZ after the dog bit someone. This is not a PB, but I know there is no way they will listen to the "PTS" line either without a recommendation first.

If anyone knows of a good one, not a PHDer. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks :)

Do you mean the dog is thrashing or you are? By thrashing I mean side to side not up and down. I don't like it when dogs thrash but I have found that a lot of bullies do tend to thrash unless taught to pull. I like to do smooth, consistant tugs, while also stroking the dog very slowly and calmly unt...

God that is a sad sight :crybaby: I took one in that looked just like him before, and one that looked MUCH worse. I don't know what is wrong with people. I wouldn't e suprised if he is full of worms either. That is normally why people get rid of them. They get reported, take the dog to the vet, the ...

I don't think SA is quite there actually. It sounds like the pit pup my roommate has, and she has serious attachment but it is simply because of insecurity/weak nerves. SA to me is the dog hurting it's self when left alone, absolutely panicing when put away from the person. The RM's pit pup is just ...

She said she had taken in some pits before... Don't get me wrong I know she is a great home and foster but with the pit bulls and bullies we need people that are experienced enough to put their emotions aside. I don't think Sueanne could do that, at least not right now. She has always been passiona...

Sorry I did not get in until late  I sent this out to Kim at Bellowood - the one with Marshall and the other bully fosters. I will let you know if she has an extra kennel available, but knowing the short notice it may not happen.

That is simply all I have ever heard or seen honestly. I applaud you honestly! It is great that they do have someone in their training programs who have dog knoweldge but personally I have never seen nor heard of them. I have had first hand experience with trainers that I have used for dogs that I h...

This is the first problem. Submission is NOT a good thing, and neither are any of the PetCo training classes I have ever seen or heard about. For some reason the pamphlets they read to become a certified trainer there teaches them to socialize dogs/puppies the best way is to let them approach every...

You also might want to look into supplementing more omegas :) I use Martin's K9 Energol and Anti-Oxidant formulas, and I alternate. If you want to use both you can supplement one the first day the second formula the second day and rotate that way or one each month (that is what I do). http://www.mar...

Has your family fed the dog from the dish(while they are holding it - it is not on the ground) and tried to incorporate some obedience excersizes into the feeding as well. This goes along with the NILIF routine but rather than setting the dish down for doing something you take some food from the dis...
